Good article, BnotAfriad.
I have a learning disability, not necessarily ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), but this article you suggested on your post was very good. I was gaslighted by my wife for 25 years. By gaslighted, I mean, ridiculed and trying to make you feel inadequate.
As mentioned in the article, whenever I would come in from the psychiatrist or other doctor, she would immediately want to know what the doctor said, and then would disagree vehemently with every thing the doctor said.
She was very threatened by my leaving the house and perhaps learning something by somebody else besides her. She wanted total control. I would sometimes go back to the doctor at the next meeting and disagree with everything he had said. I did not realize how effective she was.
My grown son has taken her place, she died of a long illness, and disagrees with everything I say. I've stayed away from him for 3 years, but to improve ties with his family, I recently invited him back. Article says that could be a mistake.
