Hello,
I use supplements for my depression. I have noticed that supplements also wear off after months of use, just like antidepressants did for me when I was taking them, if they worked at all. The supplements do not wear off completely though it seems, either did the antidepressants that worked.
So I do not have a good job and I only work part time. When I am feeling good (like when I start a new supplement that I haven't been on for a while or have never tried and have been taking it for a couple of weeks I will feel good) I want to go out and accomplish stuff. But now I don't even do that when I am feeling good because I know I will feel bad again and I will let people down if I am scheduled to do something and the effect wears of which it will eventually.
I take SAMe every day 1600 mg if I didn't my life would be a living hell. Other supplements that have worked for me are l-tyrosine, dl-phenelaline, ginko biloba, 5-htp, and st. johns wort.
Does anyone have any advice on supplements or depression treatment in general?
Many of the supplements I have tried seem to not do anything at all for my depression. I figuer supplements are healthier than prescription drugs (although I know that is not always the case).
The thing that got me going on supplements is how well SAMe worked for me at first , for about a two months, then it seemed to go downhill from there. Although I am still definitaly better on the SAMe than off.
sorry I am a bad speller
