I suggest you go check yourself into your local ER and report this immediately!  I am speaking from experience here.  One more stressor could be the one, that "last straw" that "breaks the camel's back."  There is NO shame in this!!!  And don't even "buy into" that garbage if someone tries to lay it on you!

Please do it, it sounds like you are in a CRISIS situation!!!

You will get the help you need there!  And they have the therapies and counseling that you need to continue on upon your return home ... without feeling this horrible despair!

Also, don't allow your lack of coverage to stand in the way! Call the suicide hotline ... they WILL find you the help you need and a place to go!

Although you claim that you never got anything out of previous hospital stays, that's just not so. You're still here, right? THAT is the point. And participation in all therapies, group and individual, is imperative if you are to make some headway.

Hi denton1980,  Welcome to healing well forum.

I was wondering if your mother ever did actually try to poison you or one of your siblings when you were younger?  Did she have a diagnosed mental illness that you know of?  I have had 3 clients of mine women that have either killed or tried to kill their children, it is called Munchausen Syndrome.  Anyway, it was just interesting that you said you felt better when you had small children around.

I know you said that you dont have insurance and cant afford doctor bills.  Does your state have a Medicaid program?  Low income families can get health insurance this way.  If this is not an option for you for whatever reason.  Then you can check with the Samaritan Center for help with counseling also the Division of Social Services has a list of counselors that have very low rates and most times will even waive them for extreme cases.  Doctor offices to can give samples of antidepressants to patients that dont have insurance or their co-pays are to high to pay.  They get them from the drug companies for free anyway.  Please look into getting some professional help.  If you cant function to do your daily activities because depression is so bad then you need to be treated for it.

Hi denton,  I am glad to hear that your mom didn't actually try to hurt you.  I just seems kind of odd that you would have a fear of this when you were a child.  Perhaps she would threaten?  It doesn't matter now.  The fact of the matter about hospitalizations is that now a days in order to be admitted for a psychiatric illness you have to be 1) actively having thoughts of harming yourself or 2) actively having thoughts of harming others and 3) have a plan or outline for doing either one.  Also for someone who does not have insurance coverage it is going to be even more difficult to be admitted unless they meet the above criteria. 

I suggestion that I forgot to mention to you is you can contact the Department of Mental Health in your state.  They often have lists of community mental health centers like Pathways that can set you up with most everything that you would need from psychiatric care, medications, and case monitoring on a regular basis.  It is different for every state but they have become more prevalent since most state run mental health hospitals have been closing.  I would check into it as they can be a good source of support for you.

Oh denton,  That is wonderful news!!!  I am so glad to hear that you have an appointment with a doctor.  Way to go on being proactive and taking your life back.  Let us know how it goes...were here for you.

sorry to hear your story, but i do admire you for being so honest.sone people find it hard to say how severe they are i know i do.there should be some help out there for you. i found in my own experience that if one doctor dont work then try till you get one that dose, the whole point of going to hospital is to get better not come out feeling just as bad,i to have a bad depression thats almost got me housebond and my apperance certinaly isnt what it used to be im in the process of seeing about some proffessonal help before i get worse, cause if i dont do it now il get to the stage where i wont care a tall. my motovation is bad enough just now. anyway i hope things become more bearable for you good luck.
