Hi everyone.....I was thinking this would be a nice change of pace.  The A/P board has a "Happy" thread where everyone posts something that makes them happy or a positive thing.  I thought this was an excellent idea and was hoping that all of you would help me to get one going here.  Lets face it talking about Depression all the time is well depressing.  And just maybe we could try to lift some spirits while were at it tongue .....

I woke up today at 4:30am to my cat Normandy (who weights 20 pounds) sitting on my chest wanting to be petted and purring loudly. 

There was a spring breeze coming in through my open bedroom window...which carried the sounds of birds starting to wake.

I have made several reply posts this morning and haven't had any spelling errors yet!!  I'm on a roll!!!

This morning.. i went for a run, with my dog rashida. I haven't been able to run in almost a year due to a bad knee injury. I never realized how much i would miss running, being able to ride a bike, but today i was able to do that, and it was such a beautiful day to do so.
Just makes me happy knowing i have all that i have i guess, and sometimes life isn't so bad at all. Just have to take it one day at a time.

I just saved a bunch of money by switching to GEICO!!!!!!Hee hee hee, not really but it was fun to say it. I did have a nice moment when one of my cats jumped up onto my back/shoulders while I was sitting on the john this morning. He snuggled up to my neck purring which was nice.

Not to be too much of a Pollyanna, but this thread makes me happy - its nice to remember the good stuff too... my happy moment was remembering my road trip yesterday and driving home with my boyfriend sleeping in the passenger seat and my dog sleeping with her head on her bunny in the back seat. It was a long drive, but there was so much peace in having my two favorite things right there.

When I came home from work today, I noticed that my lettuce has sprouted! The site of those little tiny leaves poking out of the soil to greet the sun just makes me so happy! :) Springtime is here!

We have gotten to "Happy 4" on A/P and it does make peeps smile ,LOL and even roflao
I feel so happy when I hear the birds as well
Walking in crunchy leaves
Smelling a wood burning stove
Making Angels in the snow
My HW family always makes me happy and cared for in so many special ways
Come on all lets get some smiles and chuckles
Bring on lots of good happy memories and thoughts ....poems,songs whatever
Check out the A/P "Happy" threads and you will see what I mean.
Laughing and Happiness is contagious and so great for the mind, body, and soul

Aww, thank you Lyn for the encouragement.  We hijacked the idea but you all from the A/P board are right it is important to think about something nice even if it is just once out of our day.  So while I spent 2 hours of my afternoon today fighting on the phone with my primary insurance carrier about my deductible I was mentally thinking of this thread and eating fist fulls of M&M's.  There happens to be a big glass pumpkin that never got put away from thanksgiving (lol!!) full of M&M's....  Which I really think in the end kept me pretty calm, considering my premiums....I guess I can try to lose that extra 5 pounds I'm carrying around tomorrow.....or I can use the sugar rush and go take a walk...na....I wait till tomorrow tongue !!

lets see past memories.....one of my fondest is of locking my little brat of a brother out side on christmas morning when we were kids.  i think he was about 5 years old.  all he had on was batman underwear and cowboy boots.   devil   he was running around the front yard screaming at me to let him back in as it had snowed quite abit that year and was pretty cold.  it was a good 10 minutes before mom caught me..... tongue tongue tongue

A really fond memory I have is when we had a spider monkey "IPPY GLICK" yep it's true....Great animals around our home


Anyways my brother was up in the cherry tree and Ippy was up there with him .....both throwing cherries down on Mom and Dad it was hilarious ,neither would come down ,dad had to get a ladder to get them both...he was cussing all us others laughing ....a sight I tell ya
You would put your toast in the toaster and Ippy would come by and pop the toaster...never once do I remember having brown toast whilst we had her
It is so great to laugh and really feel it in your guts.......

Turning the alarm clocks off and going back to sleep, even though it makes me late for work

The fiestas in tyhe spanish city of velencia involve a curious ritual, which has its origins in the ancient community of carpenters there,
during the year, artisans and artists make gigantic wooden sculptures, in the week of the fiesta, these sculptures are placed in the middle of the main square.
People look, pass and comment, and feel amazed and moved by such creativity, then on St Jpseph's day, all these works of art - apart from one- are burned on a huge bonfire in front of thousands of onlookers.

Okay, here's a story that always makes me smile. Out on the pacific blue, the horn blew. Three of us raced up to the deck to see. Looking around, noting nothing in particular, with the wheel in front of me, I take hold. (Now, mind you the captain is at the helm, right behind us.) With friends on either side of me I start toiling with the wheel. "Kasey" to my right with binoculars glued to the skies and "Bethanny" staring off into the horizon. With me in the middle being completely absentminded. When "Bethanny" casually mentions that she thinks we aren't heading in the same direction anymore. I grap the wheel tighter and turn it to the right, it actually seems to move, so I yank it back it steady the 100 ft long boat. The captain appears wagging his finger at me. I don't speak very good Spanish, and he doesn't speak very much English. So I use a combination of frantic sign language and just keep saying "Lo siento" - which I hope means I'm sorry and "No comprehendo" I don't understand. Feeling completely embarrassed and wanting to hide I run down to the lower deck, where I'm greeted by my professor as "El Captain". Needless to say, I'm a bit shocked. Come to find out, when I took hold of that wheel all of the dining room chairs flew across the room and then slammed back. The bartender just pointed a finger upstairs, "Someone is at the wheel". I was then asked "What were you thinking". I told the truth. I didn't think the wheel was actually hooked up to something, I thought it was just for show. But if it was really hooked up I wanted to find out how far it would go! :)

Great story Sadsong!!  I really wasnt going to post in this thread today as my day has pretty much started off bad with my PC's hard drive crashing and going down hill from there but in the grand scheme of things there really is no where to go but up right?  So that is positive... Oh yeah I almost forgot, I finally taught Normandy how to kiss on the lips.  My mom always says "I dont know why you kiss that cat on the lips, he licks his butt".  But I had my dog who pass away trained to do it and now Normandy can.  It only took 8 months for him not to run away from me...lol!!! tongue

Hi everyone,

I thought about this thread and the one on A/P for much of the day, and what i was going to put here, and i was having some great stuff, shining on the old brain, but when i got home, had a shower, made a coffee, i forgot the whole lot of it, still waiting for someone to invent a mind recorder or something, will try again tomorrow, but as i wrote on A/P, having something positive to think about is wonderful and this is a great place to start,

Brownleaf,  I have a little brother who let me say was a complete and utter brat and still is at the age of 28.  I can imagine the torcher you had to endure growing up with girls.  I totally loved the poem.  I have printed it and also downloaded to my notebook to keep.  I have always really liked Jazz and most especially Nina Simone.  For those of you not familiar with her music all I can say is your missing out she is quite unique......here's a song from her titled Feeling Good

Positive for me is being up up up!
And of course last week on our vacation spending 8 days with my kids and watching them laugh and try different foods and looking for shells in the ocean. I do not remember a time to where I felt the most peaceful. I actually stopped and turned around and looked at the ocean many times just thinking about the treasures of life. It still amazes me that little things like shells come to the beach and they are all so unique and beautiful. I am getting mushy now,and want to go back but have to wait until next March!!!

Hardly torture Elisha, Those Women have been perhaps the greatest gift of my life, even the one that was torture, allowed me to become a better Man, Love you all "women that is" so thats my wake up happy thought for the day, i like the song too, remeber it from my "into" Jazz days
the thought of if you touch one person, so right, touch one who touches 10 others who touch another 100, and if we all did it for a month, every day, the whole world would be feeling good,
will try to remeber what i think about today, theres something about picking grapes and thinking about good happy deep stuff, just can't remember it

Another great story, about the gifts we all have but often never know what they are, "from stories for children, parents and grandparents"

Many years ago there lived a Man who was capable of loving and forgiving everyone he came across. Because of this, God sent an Angel to talk to him.
"God asked me to come and visit you and tell you that he wishes to reward you for your goodness" said the angel "you may have any gift you wish for, would you like th e gift of healing ?."

Certainly not, he said, i would prefer God to choose those who should be healed

"And what about leading sinners back to the path of truth ?"

thats a job for angels like you. i dont want to be venerated by anyone or to serve as a permenent example.

"Look i cant go back to heaven without having given you a miracle. if you dont choose, i'll have to choose one for you"
