i dont really have a solution for you, but i definitely have to say that i feel the same as you do. it sucks because not only am i bored with basically everything, i'm not quite motivated to change things. i used to love working out, cooking and just plain wandering around aimlessly, but i don't really care about any of that anymore. i have the urge sometimes to do something, but i never follow through, i just sit around like a zombie. i just started cymbalta yesterday, so hopefully it'll help me get back on the right track.

i know it's not really a solution of any kind, but i just wanted to let you know that you're definitely not alone. sometimes just knowing that i'm not the only person in the world with my problem helps just as much as anything else.

On a general basis, i would think most people are doing a job they would prefer not to, and if you are just sitting and waiting for work to arrive at your desk etc, then thats going to make it much harder to deal with, then depression on top,

I Think having a job that has some interest is important, but everything has its dull moments, no matter what you do,

Just a question, are either of you trying anything creative in your life outside of work, using that side of your brain, can often add some colour to life, and it has a lot of benifits, and even in the learning something stage, the little successes give you some great rewards, just a thought

I was thinking something like painting, learning musical instrument or writing, Whether there is scientific agreement or not, these conditions have been a part of many artists lives, and great ones, here in Australia, science is finally leaning that way, thinking goes that there is something about these sorts of conditions that make great Artist's in the many feilds of art, ie music, Drama, writing, painting etc, theres also the fact that doing these things stimulate the brain, in different ways, i would think it's not so much the condition, but learning something creative like this makes your condition work for you, not against you

I got through most of my stuff with this, writing, and i play some instruments, even tried some painting, and no was i lousy at painting, but i tried, and made that effort,
even if you can't afford much, you can still maybe try to play the mouth organ, "harmonica", and as a friend says, you can take that anywhere, and when youre feeling messed up, you can sit under the stars and just make it roar,
or sketching or carving wood into things,
I notice the "to be or not to be" below your posts maybe somethings calling you, and you need to start using that side of your brain, it may not cure you but at least in a way youre fighting back, and learning something, and who knows, what you decide to try may turn into the greatest passion and love of your life, and because of that, everything else will come too,

Yer Australia's not bad, but if you ever come over here, spend some time in a really beautiful country New Zealand,

A friend asked me to help her buy a guitar, and show her a couple of things, all i did pretty much was tell her to practice at least one hour a day, and not get upset when her playing got worse, "Im not a good teacher" a year later she has several songs she can play, and pretty well, well lets say a bit better than pretty well,
if you decide on anything musical just yell ok, im happy to help,

Hope this view doesn't offend anyone, but i have always thought, Jerusalem should be God's City where all can go to Pray in their own way, Imagine how we could all then listen to how God speaks in many ways, a haven free of politic's, well thats my politics anyway,

I think when you take up something like Guitar, it at first always seems to be a big task, but as the old saying goes, practice makes perfect, 9 Years of music study and that still goes round in my head,

I have a tendency to get addicted to stuff like that, so i try very hard to keep myself away from it, even the TV, i don't own one, because i feel it is part of the problem, we like not to admit it but TV is just as much an addiction, and i saw that and got rid of it, and felt a huge difference in my life, i read, write, play my guitar or piano, or i look into Health stuff on the internet, which before i just couldn't be bothered.

I think the worst of this will disappear reasonably quick, but you have to remove the things also that are a close relation to your addiction, turn your time into something positive and train your mind to enjoy that more, not always easy, but in time it will come, this is why i suggested the creative, saisfying this part of your brain, will satisfy you as a whole, make something like this an addiction if you have to, but it is a positive one, which wont upset the balance of your natural self
I found especially with Games, that there seemed to be a visual residual, like it was playing in my mind well after i put the game away, the effect is a form of brainwashing, and for me a good reason why i dispise the media, because that is exactly what they are doing

TV Addiction YES, its what i usually do watch opra and Inside Eddition and Insider etc etc, everyday can get boring as well.
Jerusalem should be for all religions i agree, currently i can't visit the city even though both my parents were born in it and were raised there, they fled durring the war outside in 1967, right now my mother is applying for a VISA , as a jordanian citizen and waiting to see if she can visit her birth city or not.

I am actually worried about this. I start a new job tomorrow,as an office adminstrator. It is a very small branch office,with only 2 employees (me and the salesperson). I hope that it is not totally boring all of the time as it took me almost 2 years just to find a job. It is not my dream job,not even close and I can not get myself excited about it at all. I am thinking that once I get my first paycheck it will be better. But then I worry about that too as the paycheck will not be what I need to get my bills caught up.....UGH

I try and avoid TV as much as i can sometimes there isn't nothing else to do which gives me the feeling i am TV-Traped. when i have empty time this is what i do Sleep it off, if sleeping isn't working i do TV, but evey 15 to 30 minutes i go outside the house for a smoke. so i'm practicly going in and out.

my favourate activity the one i am not alloued to do is sit on the puter and play online games. and because i can't play em i end up doing sleep-tv-smoking routine..

Wow, it's like you are reading my mind. I also enjoy going out for a smoke, and watch tv during the other time. Congrats on your job assignment, you sound excited. Lead by example. I used to be in charge of about 10 people in a kitchen and looking back i don't think i did the greatest job leading them at all times. Best of luck, I know you'll do great.

Els, i thought about masters too , but it seems in my field IT it doesn't count that much, or at least i think so , my collegue has master and it gave him 10% raise in his income other than that i don't see the point , besides i'm very happy to have done collegue and finished with it i hate studying lol. but i still have to study in my work so i can't run away from it, since IT changes so much and new products come out you have to keep learning, right now i'm working on a certification which requires a lot of studying and then take an exam.

awwww, computers are eazy for me but i still cant fix them if its a hardware problem something needs to get replaced, my father's pc was not working for 2 days then it suddenly started working for no apparent reason, sometimes computers can be really wierd :) hope your PC gets fixed soon. i hope the shop isn't very far if its far thats anoying..

I have been struggling in a career that I can't stand for the past 12 years. I make pretty good money, but I am miserable day in and day out, and I don't know what I would do instead. In the past, I had been able to get through by having hobbies and things outside of work to look forward to. But lately, I feel like the job is sucking the life out of me, and I have started to lose interest in doing the things that I used to enjoy. I know I need a new career, but don't know what I want to do. I have read all of the self help books and taken all of the tests to figure out my interests, but at this point, I am so depressed that a)nothing sounds appealing and b)I don't think I'd be good at anything.

I started seeing a therapist a few months ago. He just admit that he doesn't know what to do with me. It's getting harder and harder to make it through the day at work. Which makes me more and more depressed. Which makes it harder to get through the day. A vicious cycle.

I don't know if any of you have been in a similar situation and managed to get out.
