Hi. In regards to trouble falling asleep and staying asleep I have been battling both for quite awhile. For a long time (i.e. several years) I was on Xanax, but my body became too used to it and it was not effective. Then I was given Seroquel to try. Like most of you I was very tired but very groggy in the morning. I may have been able to work through this, except that by morning I was ravenous. I couldn't stop shaking/eating for the rest of the day. And as I also have eating disorder(s) that wasn't good. So, 2 weeks later I was put on Ambien and that worked well for a little while. But when that stopped working (about 3 months later) I was told that our bodies get used to this too fast and it is only effective for short term use. Now I am on Trazadone, which I take right before I go to bed. And yes, this knocks me out. However, the one catch is I need to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep a night, otherwise I sleep right through the alarm.
Last, on a non-medicinal basis, listening to a hypnosis tape that my therapist did with me, helps me to relax and fall asleep easier. And others on this board have recently talked about girly baths, quiet music (Enya), reading or just quiet time before bedtime. I truly hopes this helps and if I haven't put you to sleep yet.... I'm truly sorry. I'm just about falling asleep writing this.
Good Luck,
Cass
