Jodi - These signs definitely indicate depression. Are you seeing anyone (therapist or psychiatrist) for this? If not, you should get an appointment as soon as you can. In the meantime, try to get involved with something of interest and try not to be hard on yourself. Depression is a chemical imbalance in your brain and can be helped with medication.
Keep posting here. There are a lot of good people to listen to you and to help you. You have already done the most important thing...admitting that you might have a problem.
Good luck to you, Jodi and hang in there,
Grams

Jodi
I wanted to forewarn you about
something else...
When you are in deep depression,it does seem like that time of the month makes it worse.
No matter how many meds I was taking,I struggled so hard to not go off the deep end once a month.
It is the ultimate curse I think...

Thank you for all your advise...I am still crying often...for hours on end daily..I see a doctor July 12. I sleep 14-16 hours non stop during the night and take 3 to 4 naps during the day. I just hope I can survive till July 12 cause I feel I cant go on anymore as it doesnt seem to get any better and I have this horrible feeling like I cant go on..but will see. Thanks again for all the advise. Jodi

Was the EXACT same way.. Forget counseling unless you feel you need to talk to someone.. For me I tried counseling and was the biggest waist of time and money ever. Just see your doc and get on some meds.. I reluctantly seen my doc after I was at the point of stuck on the couch crying and thinking about
suicide several days a week for no real reason. This went on for years. I thought there was no way a pill could stop the pain and suffering in my head.. I was wrong.. Get on some good meds and you will have a life again..

Hi Ben, I wanted to welcome you to healing well forum. We are happy to have you. In alot of aspects counseling alone isnt going to help someone who has Major Depression. You do need to keep in mind that there are many variables to this, perhaps someone has been through a traumatic event in their live and this would play a part in healing, recovering and learning coping skills. No, most cases counseling is not going to make it go away but taking a pill isnt a quick fix for depression either. Medication helps greatly but the person has to learn how to manage their lives and stressors and things that could be triggers for that depression otherwise that pill isnt going to do much for you.
