Hey Guys~ I was wondering what is the best way to lose weight, keep it off, and in a healthy manner? I know that really don't need to lose weight but I really want to. Please help me if you can.

My Doc has always told me to eat 3 sensible meals a day, where all of the food groups are represented, and excercise for 30 minutes a day.

Hi Nicky,
I don't agree with all these diets that are out now, I think most of them are quite unhealthy - but thats my opinion!!!! I think the best way to lose wieght is eat 3 meals a day and eat healthy. Include your 5 portions of fruit and vegatables a day. Also exercise with this.
My sister lost 2 stone dieting this way and by just being sensible. My cousin on the other hand was on the atkins diet and didnt lose anything!
Take care and good luck

The diet industry would have you believe that there is a magic secret to loosing weight and only they know it. The truth is that a healthy lifestyle includes being active. Portion control, good food choices and exercise are still the only healthy way to loose weight.
Why do you want to loose weight if you don't really need to?

hey Nicky,
I would have to agree with what most other people are saying on this one. Portion control is a big issue. Also I have been told over and over to 'eat the rainbow' everyday. By eating all the different colors of veggies and fruit you are sure to get enough servings. I also like to walk with my dog. He really keeps me going. At just over 18 months old there is no stopping him. I am just a little curious though, you said you don't need to lose weight, but you want to. I hope there's nothing wrong. I'll be thinking of you.
Take care,
Donna

Hi Nicky
I do agree if you don't need to lose weight there is no need to diet. It doesnt mean that you can't eat healthily though. I don't need to diet but I like to keep healthy by eating the right foods and taking regular exercise.
Take care

Hi Nicky,
If you don't need to lose weight, but you'd just like to shape up a bit, why not do what I do and walk to places whenever you can. I was getting pretty sedentary a few months ago and decided I wanted to be more like my old shape but didn't want a load of faffy diets (especially since I'm an ex bulimic and have to be very careful that I don't start to "play" with my food). Since then I've been walking to and from work (about
an hour in total) and I've shed almost all my annoying flabby bits. I also feel healthier.
The others were right to be concerned when you said you wanted to lose weight but didn't need to. There may be no cause for concern, but perhaps you could just double-check your motivation for this to be on the safe side. These days I'd recommend that people think less about
weight than inches: inches you can work on as long as you accept that some aspects of your shape are simply there, like 'em or not, but weight is always such a difficult thing to measure in terms of what's right for each individual. Sorry if I'm being a bit preachy, but diets are often motivated by complicated things, and also have such a tendency to go bad and cause more problems -- and I learned that the hard way!
All best wishes,
Rosie x
