Hi,

I'm going to post this in the anxiety forum as well...

I feel like I'm spiraling downwards. I feel sick. I want to cry and cry and cry. I have been on 200mg of zoloft for many years now and have heard that antidepressants can eventually lose their effectiveness...I was put on wellbutrin along with my zoloft some months back and after a few days of feeling like I was being tormented, I stopped taking the wellbutrin and told the pdoc. Now I am afraid. Very afraid. What am I going to do? Has anyone else ever transitioned from zoloft to another antidepressant (besides wellbutrin)? How did it go for you? Please respond if you will. Tomorrow I go to GP to get my lab work results. If he finds nothing, then I suppose that I'm just feeling effects of deep depression setting in again. Thank you anybody.

My name is melissa and I know exactly what your going through. When I was younger I was put on Zoloft and then last fall I was put on Effexor which i think works better than welbutrin. Its normal for people who are being changed from 1 depression med to the next to feel real down and depressed. smurf   When you see your doc ask him about effexor you can go up to 300 mg on it a day. when I stopped taking prozac, I felt like I had a brain tumor or something. I couldn't see right, walk right, felt like I had the flu, cried all the time, etc. it was awefull. So we went to a taper and eventually got better. I was on a pretty low dose we did taper at first, wow what a mistake that was. I'm on nortriptyline now, and i don't think its working much. I take it with my Migraine meds combo. Lexapro and Prozac have worked the best for me. I tried cymbalta but wasn't on it very long b/c change in migraine meds.

My GP says all my lab tests are great (except for high cholesterol). So I guess I was right, it's my depression coming back. I have been researching depression and read some good things about Omega-3 fish oils. I went to Wal Mart and bought some and just ordered a book about it by a Harvard psychiatrist, Dr. Stoll. Desperation calls for desperate measures. Also, PLEASE, NO NEGATIVE STORIES about fish oil. I'm doing research and I gotta try. in the meantime, I'm still feeling awful and can barely put one foot before the other. Thanks to all for being here and I wish you all the best as well!

My pdoc says that fish oil in combination with exercise is very effective.

good to hear most of your test results were good, small changes in your diet can help with the cholesterol. There is a no salt butter . Good for you in trying the fish oil, natural remedies are hard to come by, really hope it works for you. Hope your feeling better soon! Good luck scool

I was on SAM-e (over the counter - amino Acid supplement) and it is considered very safe and in many reputable medical journals as an alternative for depression. I was on 200mg once a day for a week and then went to 400mg once a day. It worked very well for me for about three years. I have a friend who has been on it for depression and it has worked well for him..this is his 2nd year of taking it.

I take the (Omega-3) Carlsons Norwegian Cod Liver oil (lemon Flavored - pleasant taste)..I have heard that the liquid can be absorbed into your bloodstream faster than fish oil capsules. I take a teaspoon with a meal every day. It has greatly helped with depression (especially in the fall and winter with the shorter days) as it also had 400mg of Vitamin D in it.
