Hi Allys, Thank you for sharing your information here. I am glad that this form of treatment has helped you get better and maintain that level.
I dont know if you have read on this forum often or not but there are many who do post about alternative forms of treatment. Things that have worked for them and or worked for their family/friends. For those of us who have very traumatic events in our lives or childhoods and suffer with Chronic Major Depression and who have went through many different forms of treatments and counselings it is perhaps easy to be suspicious of the alternative forms.
I dont want to get into a debate into the differances between the two...but in one of your posts you stated that...
What motivated me? A desire to move on & seeing after the first session how simply amazing the process is. It is not like counselling where someone tells you what to do or makes suggestions. the client works it all out themselves & so it is completely empowering.
Counseling isnt where someone tells you what to do...In fact, when you go into counseling or CBT you work the program and it is all up to you to do the work. There are no miracles cures, you pull your inner strength out and work though your issues to be able to deal with them and hopefully live a better life. It isnt an easy process and it shouldnt be easy, especially for those of us who have had traumatic childhood events in our lives. We work though the pain and face it...so yeah I too am skeptical when I hear that you can be "cured on the first visit".
As I said before thank you for sharing...
