Hi Wizzer, thank you for your care and concern. I'm recovering from major depression, divorce, moving, chronic migraine, my pet was ill, financial problems and my State Disability runs out TODAY. I've been interviewing and I've been getting noticed but for the wrong jobs. Ironically, I am being considered for the complex high-stress, high-visibility jobs when I have limitations now (baby steps) and am looking for something less high-profile. I was offered an incredible job for an incredible amount of money. I went from cloud nine to the depths of despair. Realizing ones limitations and accepting that is can be a daunting experience. Fortunately, I got up the next day with my fighting gloves back on. I am okay now - in fact I'm good. I have a peace that can only come from God. People like you and others here at HW have made a big difference too. I can't wait to share good news with everyone. Until then it's one day at a time and keep on keeping on. That's my advice to everyone who is depressed. If one day at a time is too hard, then one hour at a time, if that's too hard, then one minute at a time. I've been there.

Good to hear your back on track.  Your attitude is uplifting.  Good luck with the job search, and your right, baby steps is all you need to keep heading forward.

Hey Hopefulmigrainer,

Our histories are almost identical, except that my Disability is still good for a couple more years.  As things are, I have too many permanent problems, and I can't see ever being able to go back to work.  I have always worked in high level, stress filled jobs.  I've always made it through the crisis mode, but it progressively kept getting bottled up, until I just crashed and burned.

I've got my fingers crossed for you and will be thinking good thoughts.  Best wishes.

How did you make the transition to disability income?  I am 100% self-supporting and could not live on what I would get from disability.  The USA now requires that you carry your own health insurance for two years before you can get medicare.  Because I have a serious health condition (migraine, neck & depression) I have to pay out of pocket for a comprehensive health plan.  Getting a full-time job is planA but if it turns out I just can't do it then I'll have to come up with planB.  That's why I was wondering how your transition from the corporate world to disability transpired.

I'm not doing so great, but I have been worse. I might lose my job next week, its a bit touch and go if the business I run will go into liquidation. I have worked very hard over the last 10 years and it is all starting to feel like it is a waste. There will be 12 staff in total all out of work 3 weeks before xmas, I feel very bad for everyone and wonder/worry how it will all turn out. I know that's life, we pick up and move on. I am also struggling with the thought of being out there on the job market again after so long!

Anyway Christmas is not a good time of year for me at the best of times - too many very bad memories, so I am probably just feeling worse than usual.

Hello, everyone
Reading your posts, makes me feel not "alone". Currently I'm working 3 1/2 daily,which is not considered full time, therefore, no med. coverage - I wish it were four hours with benefits. I'll keep my fingers crossed for everyone...let's take baby steps...one day at a time.
