HI Victoria,
I do take Xanax for anxiety/panic attacks. The anxiety/panic attacks use to be few and far between but as of lately they have been more often and more often then I care to have.
This ole brain of mine is just getting old..LOL..and has been down the road and now it has decided to flip out on me, so I will talk to my shrink about the anit-depressants if I choose to go this route.
I'm so scared of taking the anti-depressants because of their side effects. I do understand that one can get very lucky and the first ones prescribed work well...then again a person can go thru many of them until they find the right one.
I've been looking into other alternative treatment for depression as well....but whic one ot choose is the decission??
Thanks for your input,
Sabrina

Hi Victoria,
So glad to hear that the Effexor is working so well for you. How was it when you first started taking Effexor..and side effect or strange feelings from the drug?
Did you have to go into the hospital because of depression? How long were you in the hospital?
Thanks for repling to my post,
Sabrina
Hi Ark,
When I first started the effexor, I started on a low dose and gradually increased to 225mg. I experienced a few side effects to start with such as:
Increased Anxiety, Palpitations, Muscle Twitches
These didn't last very long and I felt that they were under control.
I was admitted to the hospital because of my depression. I had a breakdown and waas diagnosed with PTSD aswell. I stayed in hospital for 4 months in total but had some home leave during that time.
I am doing better now, I still have good and bad days but things are so much better to how they were. I had other meds in hospital for anxiety but these could only be prescribed as an inpatient and cannot be prescribed for home use. They were benzodiazapines so are only for short term use.
Keep in touch and take care, I hope you get some help and start to feel better soon. Everyone reacts differently to antidepressants and not all of these have side effects in everyone. Sometimes it can be a bit of trial and error until we find the one that suits us but they do work and they do help with depression and anxiety.
