Have had MANY drinks while on it and just 1 last night. i will go 2 years without a drink - dont care for the taste and do NOT have alchohol problems. The night I had 5 or 6 drinks i dont remember part of the evening...and again a NEVER drink so maybe it was that or was it the lexapro?

Can you all share your experiences with drinking and the SSRI

No experiences. The label on the bottle pretty much says not to drink while taking this med so I don't.

Drinking while taking anti depressants is never good.
The anti depressants can heighten the effect of the alchol.
Also just a warning. If you drink and drive,and say you only had a couple drinks. If you get pulled over,and have to take a test,the anti depressants will make the test read alot higher.

I haven't had any experiences with Lexapro and drinking but I wouldn't advise it. I had been on Lexapro for 5 months and in those 5 months I attempted suicide 3 times within a 6 week period 1 time for suicidal ideation. I had been telling my doctor's that I didn't like the way I felt on Lexapro and for those 5 months I went down hill. Had I drank, I would probably not be here today. Alcohol is a depressant. You may feel good temporarily but in the end your depressive mood gets worse. Whereas you can't remember part of your evening anything could have taken place during that time span. I wouldn't want to take that kind of a chance.

I went out 4 my bday and had a few drinks. The way I ended up was crying my eyes out, falling all over the place, basically the effects of bein very drunk but I had only had about 5 drinks! Then everyone I was with got into a fight over a taxi and I sat there oblivious of what was going on around me, I was more interested in my pizza! and i HATE fighting I usually become hysterical. Also to this day I still cant remember parts of that night!! My avice.. Don't drink with them..I wont again.
