How about quizzing her on my symptoms? I had an aunt who, years ago, sat me down and asked me a series of questions -- I think it was called the Beck Depression Inventory. She added up my score, which indicated that I was depressed. She then asked me, "So what do you think about that?" I got defensive at first and denied that I was depressed. As I kept trying to minimize my symptoms, she quietly said to me, "You know, there is nothing you could tell me about yourself that would make me love you any less." Maybe if you approach your sister non-confrontationally, you and she can understand why getting help for her depression is so frightening to her. I think once you understand that, the rest might fall into place, and your good relationship will be just fine.
