Hi I'm Loney

 

  I just moved out on my own for the first time and I'm in need of some ideas to help me make it through the most lonelyest hours night time and during the day.  My family lives in a different state I get esp sad at night the house gets so quite its kind of scarey please help me..  Thank you

Hi there Justme, It can be hard being on your own. Try turning on the radio at night, just high enough to hear it. Also get a fan and turn it on for noise, it helps cover up those creaky noises you hear at night.
My husband works nights so I have two fans going and leave about three lights on at night. I will set the timer on the radio or tv to go off after a few hours and then the fans are still going.

I also know what it's like to be alone for extended periods of time. Do you like to read? That really helps me. Could you get a pet? I have cats, and so I guess in a sense I am never truly "alone". While I don't like the stinky catboxes, I really enjoy their quiet (well, most of the time) companionship.

I love my cat too!  Having a pet is so comforting.  She drives me crazy with all the attention she needs, but she's worth it!  Can you have a pet where you live?

 

Have you tried going out to meet some people, make some new friends?  Have them over for dinner one night! 

 

When I went to school in another province (I'm in Canada), I found that I got lonely too.  Until I started having my class mates over for visits.  That really helped a lot!

If you can't have pets maybe you could buy a betta fish. They're beautiful and it would be something that is alive. Having soft music is nice. Hope you find an answer. Dee
