sad   my illness is driving me mad my fainting is controlling my life.

Hi Elephant Girl,

I am really sorry that you are feeling so low at the moment. Are you able to talk to us about your illness? Have you spoken to a doctor about getting some meds or changing your meds? Do you know what is causing your fainting? It could be as simple as a low blood pressure in which case it should be easy to solve and give you some control back.

What is causing your fainting? Have you been to the Doctor about it?

sad  I have seen heaps of doctors and specialists about the fainting and noone knows the cause i am only out for a few seconds between 30 to 40 times a day somedays on a good day up to 20 it is getting me down I just cant han dle it just dont know what to do they hae told me to live with it but i dont know how have been tested foe epelisy and my blood pressure is strange sometimes it go down and sometimes it goes up i just dont know how the doctors expect you to live with this do you does anyone else know anyone else that does this and if so what is their cause i feel confused   and lost i am so trapped and this is controlling my life just want to be normal

Can they admit you to the hospital where they can monitor and observe you?  Have you asked them about this.  I can tell this is driving you crazy.  It would me too.

i have been in hospital and they have observed it alot but they say theres nothing they can do just have to live with it I think i would feel better if there was a name for it and not told by doctors that I make myself do it

Hi there,

I assume from the way you write, that your epilepsy test came back negative? Also, you mentioned that your blood pressure is up and down frequently. Have doctors attempted to control the blood pressure with meds? Have you had your blood sugar tested? If you have diabetes (or dont eat for long periods) that can cause fainting. Also some meds can cause fainting as a side effect since they alter your blood pressure. One final thought... Does it happen when you turn your head? Sometimes the neck bones can restrict the carotid artery in your neck and that can cause fainting.

Like Carla, I can tell that this is driving you crazy and I wish there were more I could do to help.

I am so sorry you are going through this..wow I can't believe that they basically told you to live with it,I mean you can't drive,how can you get a job like that? I would be getting a second opinion and another and another until someone told me what was wrong. That is very serious and it just makes me mad that they are basically pushing you off.

sad  i just dont know what to do anymore i dont leave the house some one has to watch me bath or shower i haven't worked for 15 years and have never driven a car what can i do i have tried all the doctors here where i live the hospital know me by sight hate me being there i hate been like this i am lost and hurting so much i need some support some one to help me i am so mad   i just dont what to do

I agree with Shy. I would go and get a second opinion on your condition. Hopefully you will be able to make progress that way. Just as a thought... has someone considered narcolepsy as a diagnosis? Its possible that what you call faints are actually micro-sleeps (Like what drivers get if they spend long periods driving)

they checked me for narcolespy and its not that going to ring a specialist in the morning to see what else can be done and if i dont know if they cant do anything im lost

Don't give up hope. It might be a matter of seeing several doctors and not accepting the "we don't know"...
