Hello this is the first time ever used a site like this but thought it would help me and be benefical... Been depressed for a long time just recently went to the doctors and got prescription of citroplam but still feel down . I realise that it doesnt take it away but still get very low, am i the only one young , good job nice to no if anyone feels the same it can be very isolating a???xxx

Hi alanrb, welcome to Healing well ! How long have you been taking your medication? Wait at least 4-8 weeks to get full affect. Try to look at everything very positive. I know it's hard, but you have to help meds work too. Get out and do the things that you enjoy......gotta push yourself!! I've been there, and probably will be there again in my lifetime. So don't lose the faith!! Chin up, kiddo!!!

thanks for the reply feels like never get any were what a weird feeling a !!! Been on medcation for a while so just expect miracles i think!!!

Alana, always know that someone is here for you when you need to talk or just to vent. I feel like these forums are lifesavers for some of us when we think we are all alone in our shape. I have had major depression for 27 years. I am now 53 and finally feeling on even keel for the longest on same meds for 2 yrs. now. It may take time but be patient and as I say......"chin up, kiddo"!!!

I think you will find other young people on this forum too.  I wanted to welcome you.  Soon I don't think age will matter, hopefully you will feel like part of a big family here.  As already mentioned, it will take some time for your medication to start working. 

I am 56 and have been dealing with depression since 1994, but I can look back and see how much better I am now than I was at that time.  My depression was triggered by my divorce.  At that time I felt that I had nothing to live for.  Now, I have three beautiful grandchildren and of course, my two beautiful daughters.  I am so glad God didn't let me miss out on any of this.

Please know that we are always here for you.

Hello thanks for the reply i think this site will really help , i live woth my sister who also suffers from depression so i think sometimes it doesnt help ie both get really bad moods , angry and annoy each other. Think its about coping which i find very hard , but its a bit better to no your thoughts and stories so hopefully it will get a bit better hopefully....
Havent got a dad or mum just a good nan and sister so if this is like a big family thats just what i need, thanks keep in touch....

I am glad that you have found us and that you have already started to feel the benifit from sharing your story. Just picking up on your langauge, are you from the UK? We are a big family here and we often 'bounce off' each other. We give suppor to those who are down and then we receive the support when we need it most.

Thanks for the replys im English incase the awful spelling doesnt give it away ! Really like this site as i still cant bring myself to see a counceller yet but no i have to as i do have alot of guilt , upset and pain that i can`t seem to deal with.. Hopefully when im ready to deal and let things go i will start to move on.. I get very annoyed as i feel like i`m to young to just get through the day, so much to get through dont no were to start it can be so lonely ...
Anyway i always get that feeling like im going on and boring everyone so im going to sign off..

Hi Alana,

The only reason I picked up that you were English was the fact that you used the word "mum". Americans use "mom". Britain is the only country I could think of that spelt it that way... it wasnt your spelling at all!  tongue

As for going on and boring everyone, dont worry about it! Im sure your not and forums are designed for people to air their views and opinions on a variety of topics. Please feel free to "go on and bore everyone" as much as you want, that is what we are here for. If you dont talk, we cant support you! lol

There is no point in seeing a councillor if you are not ready as the therapy will not be effective in helping you. When the meds take effect, you may feel differently and they may give you the boost you need to get through therapy.
