I just found out that my father (who i love dearly) might have cancer... and if this is true, I don't know how I'm to go on.  I love my dad very much and from what I've heard... My dad may be slowly slipping away from me, my sister, my mother, and my brother.  Now, I don't know what Hepititus C is ... But you may have read some of my mother's posts... (Butterflythree)

She would lose her mind if we lost my dad. I'm very scared, very sad and I don't know what to do... My mom doesn't talk to me about these kinds of things so it's not like I can just ask her about it... im sad, confused, and i still honestly don't know what to do about anything anymore... someone help me.

Hello Butterfly4, So nice to meet Butterfly3's daughter. I am the moderator for the hepatitis forum so I saw your post there. My first thought was what a wonderful daughter. I have one of my own so I know one when I see one. If I have seen your post your mom sure has also. It was a good ice-breaker for the talk. Your mom probably doesn't want to worry you. But let her know that now you are not only worried about your father but also about her. Your parents have a long rough road ahead of them and can use all the support you kids can give them. Not to mention all your love also. Good luck with the talk. My thoughts and prayers will be with all of you.

Butterflyfour (my sweet little girl, that's what you will always be to me), I am sorry that I have kept you in the dark and by doing so have made you worry so much more. Your dad does not have cancer. He has hepatitis C and cirrhosis. Hepatitis C is a virus that attacks the liver and can lead to cirrhosis after many years. I will talk more to you privately about this. I don't want you to think I was trying to keep secrets. I came to the forum to express my inner thoughts without worrying anyone else. You have enough to worry about right now (like what clothes to wear to school tomorrow, or if your hair looks just right)lol.

Pink Grandma & Butterflythree(The greatest mother in the world), Thank you both very much. and Mom, I don't even know how to pronounce cirrhus(sp) :/ but It makes me happy to know PART of the truth now. Again, thank you both for your kind words. They have made me very happy. :)
