Has anybody tried abilify?

I have been on abilify for a few months now and I notice that it gives me a type of energy.  I noticed a lot of people on this forum are concerned about weight gain and it doesn't seem to contribute to that. 

I think it is actually a bipolar medicine, though I am not diagnosed with that. 

I was just curious as to whether anybody else has taken it, I think that it is kind of new.  And I wondered how it affected them.

PS before I took that, I was on risperdol and it caused me to gain a lot of weight, though I liked how it made me feel.  I still take it once in a while for obsessive thinking.

My husbands pdoc just mentioned this as a drug he is considering for his severe depression. Husband loves to sleep--he thinks it may give him energy. I have not yet begun to research it

I have been on it before, and my pdoc said that there is a low risk of weight gain. It is one of the newer APs, and is supposed to have lower side effects than the older drugs of its class and low weight gain.

Even though it is a BP med, a lot of pdocs are trying out APs for depression that has been resistant to other meds.

I have been taking it for a few months now. It does help me with obsessive thinking. I have been reading a little on bipolar. I had some of the characteristics, though I wasn't diagnosed bipolar. Just when I would get a thought in my head or get mad, I could think of nothing else. Now I don't dwell on things like I use to. It is as if I can get on with my life. It also gives me some energy. Though they tried a higher dose and it was too stimulating. So I am at the lowest I think, 5mg. It has really helped me a lot.

It worked great for me at 10mg, but when they put me on a higher dose, I was too sedated that I had to stop taking it. But yes, it does help with obsessive thought process. I am glad you found something that is working for you. You should continue to do research on Abilify, it is important to know about the meds we take.

I try to keep recent pill books but the one I have didn't have it in it. I have had internet for three months now and keep forgetting I can look up medications on it. I was kind of computer illiterate I guess.
Thank you for your input, it helps a lot. I take so many different things anymore it is hard to get things straight. Filling my pill box on Saturday night is getting to be a chore.LOL.
