You may want to check on the day program. Hubby did not get much support when inpatient, but the outpatient is working well. He sees psychiatrist every 2-3 days for med management. It was easier to get a handle on the medications faster.

Thank you. I am seeing my psychiatrist every three weeks and my t twice a week. That's about all the support there is around here because I live in the boondocks. There is no day program. Trying really hard to stay up for my hubby's sake but it's hard. Still feel like a zombie from the Serequal. Isn't it hard to be the spouce of a person with depression? My hubby is so good about it but I imagine it's hard. Do you want to know what's going on in his heard or would you rather he kept it to himself? Just wondering.

Yes I do want to know what is going on in his head. I like getting feedback from him about what I am doing that helps him get better. (He likes how I answer the phone cheerfully when he calls me.) I want to hear that he loves me and understands the decisions I have to make for our family even if he does not like them. Mainly I want him to tell me the truth, good bad or ugly, and do what he says he is going to do. One thing that he has started doing since he has been in the day program is set a specific goal for the day. Today it was to take me on a date. We went out and had a great time. I forget what yesterdays goal was but it had something to do with using postive coping skills with our daughter. None of the goals is big, but it helps him alot. He feels really good about himself when he accomplishes his goal.

I am sounding a bit like a broken record-I am still upset that I did not research my husbands initial Rx for over 3 months--but try to research serequel. See if sleepiness or Somnolence is a big side effect. There are several great websites were you can research drugs. Make sure it appears like this is the best drug for you. If there is a high incidence of "zombie" issues with this drug, look for one that has less zombie like issues. Research other drugs in its class. It takes time, but if you can help the doctor identify some good choices for you it may be helpful. If you dont feel up to it, maybe your husband could help you research it. You can always ask to see the psychiatrist earlier if you feel gross.

You did the hardest part of the work going inpatient. You are getting better it is just really slow going.
