New medication, awful feeling

In the hospital last week the doctor added Remeron to my other meds to help me sleep and maybe to see if it would help me with the Celexa to feel better. Since I have been taking it I have been zombie like. My head feels strange and lightheaded. I am weak and nervous and cannot get anything done cause I am so tired. Its like someone has tied weights to my legs and arms. I am still taking it hoping to feel better.

 

Has anyone here taken Remeron before? I do hope I get approved for disability because I am feeling worse each day and cannot work. I find that I am calmer in my spirits though. I am not worried as before and I am accepting that I may not get to go back to work. If I don't it does not define who I am and being able to work is not a measurement of my worth. That's what used to kill me before why I was using alcohol and percocets to numb the pain of feeling so worthless and like a failure.

Hi Getting There,

I took remeron and it did the same thing to me.  It made me very sleepy.  Maybe you should ask the doctor for something else or see if the tiredness goes away.  I was falling asleep driving so I quit taking it.  I may not have given it a chance. 

You sign up for disability through the social security administration.  You can find it on the internet.  It takes a long time sometimes so don't get discouraged.  And you can get turned down many times, so don't give up.  Just keep pushing.

how have you been? I am trying it for another week and see. I see my pdoc on Tuesday so I will see what he thinks. I am in Canada and I have applied for disability but I hear they always turn you down and one has to keep apealing.

I was on it for a little while and it's one drug that the lower the dose you're on the worse it sedates you. If it's helping talk to your pdoc about upping the dose and hopefully the side effects will lesson.

Hiya,

How are you feeling today? The side effects of the meds could be temporary as your body chemistry trys to find a balance. Give it a couple of weeks and see how you feel. Hopefully things will have calmed down a lot by then.

Thanks Aussie, I will talk to him and see where it goes from there. He was not the one that prescribed it but the doc at the hospital.
