Hi:  I'm new to this site, although I don't know why, because I've suffered from depression for years.  I have recently been tapered off of effexor (it was awful) and put on zoloft but the zoloft just seems to make me nervous.  Its hard to be depressed and anxious and still functiion at work.  Every day is a struggle.  I'm going back to my doctor on Monday and hope to get on a different med.  I took remron for a while and I felt really good on it but I gained weight.  I'm thinking of going back on it just to feel good again.  Has anyone had eny experience with remron or zoloft?

Hi Jeeper,

I take effexor, why did you go off of it? I know that it is hard to do. I took remeron for a while, but it made me too sleepy. I took zoloft years ago but it didn't help me. I wish you luck finding what will work for you, I know that it is trial and error at this point.

Hi there and Welcome to HealingWell,

Different meds suit different people. For me, Zoloft worked. I know people who have had great experiences with effexor. Its a case of finding something that suits you. There are plently out there... Wellbutrin, Citalopram, Fluoxetine etc...

Lexapro is a close cousin to effexor, though I think that the effexor is stronger, lexapro gives you a little energy. Good luck with the change.
