Awhile back someone told me about a website where you can apply to get your medications for free or at a very affordable price... I think it was in this forum anyway...

But I'm going to be moving back to Florida in a month or two and probably won't have insurance for three months or so depending on the job I get. And I will most definitely need help getting my medications, namely the Lexapro and NuvaRing as they are very expensive without insurance and they're two medications I can't go without. Does anyone know of any programs that offer assistance with this?

I have an appointment with my doctor next Friday so I'm going to see if she'll either be able to give me some samples or some resources but I figured I'd ask you all first because I've also found the most help on Healingwell. :)

Hi Ediekristen,

I think you have made a good decision. The doctor can give you samples of lexapro and as for the nuvaring, (if it what I think that it is) you could also check with family planning. They should be able to help you with something until you get insurance. But like you said talk to your doctor, I think that would be the best place to start.

Yes, the NuvaRing is birth control and is about $60 a ring without insurance! Which of course I would pay if I had to because $60 a month is much more affordable than a baby would be right now.. :)
I think they are able to write scripts for three rings at a time too so I might see if she will do that because that would be three months worth and I could fill that before losing my insurance and have three on backup.

Something else to think about...most state run hospitals have a financial aid program..and that includes their pharmacy.

You can go there and talk to them about it,and you might be able to get your meds almost free,plus your services if you qualify.

And,I am not sure how the program works,but Walmart now has a program where you can get your meds for $4.... I am sure it is the generic ones,here is the link with the info on it

Also,what about a Planned Parenthood for the birth control? I know they also have financial aid programs....

If you can get the help then I would go for it!
