Zoloft, Lamictal, Risperdal and Depression

I was on risperdal and zoloft for five years and everything was great. I switched from zoloft to lamictal about 9 months ago and recently have been feeling anxious and having trouble sleeping. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience and if they have any suggestions. Thank you.

Why did you have to make the switch? Can you switch back if you can't tolerate the lamictal? Or take a sleeping aid?

Thanks Karen. I really appreciate it. I'm switching back to Zoloft slowly. Tonight I'm going to try Ambien for my sleep. This should do the trick. This is a great site. Thanks again for your feedback.

When you take the ambien. Try not to have a lot of food on your stomache and take it right before you go to bed. That is the way that it works best for me.

Thanks Karen. I took Ambien at about 7pm last night and slept until 2am. I feel better now. That was on a full stomach. I will try it on an empty stomach tonight. I look forward to any comments you might have. What are some other areas of the site that focus on these medications?

Basically, I guess that would be bipolar and anxiety and panic, they are all similar to the depression forum. Chronic fatigue does a little bit because they figure that a good nights sleep would help with daytime fatigue. But usually people with chronic fatigue, (like myself) could sleep day and night and still feel tired.

Next time you see your doctor I would ask why he/she would take you off an anti-depressant whithout replacing it. Lamictal is a mood stabilizer. I would be careful of this thinking or ask him what he was thinking - maybe he just made a mistake.

That is strange, because risperdol is a mood stablizer too. You would think that he would keep some sort of antidepressant. Maybe the doc knows what he is doing. I hope so. Risperdol helps me a lot. I like it because you can take as needed. There is more of a feeling of control there.

Lamictal has antidepressant properties as well as a mood stabilizer.

KB, when I took Lamictal in the past, I had sleep problems as well. I thought it was just me, but it is not. You should talk to your Dr. about. Maybe switching the times that you take your meds might help.
