I went today to have my pelvic ultrasound.  Nobody told me ahead of time it was going to be an internal ultrasound. if you know what I mean.  The tech practically inserted that wand up to my throat she pushed it in so far.  And she couldn't find my ovaries.  She kept pressing and pushing and pressing on my abdomen.  I was actually sobbing it hurt so badly. No one told me it would be internal and no one said it was going to be so paiinful. It took a whole hour to do the test and she had to stop once because the pain was so bad.  She said it would just feel like pressure but it was about the worst pain I have experienced.  At least when you have child birth you get anesthetic and pain killers later.  Thank heavens my son drove me because I would not have been able to drive home.  I could barely walk afterwards. I only hope and pray that they don't find anything because I don't think I can stand more pain.  Sorry to be so complaining but this has been a tough week starting before the 4th when I first got the paiin.  And then I was taking several doses of advil which made my asthma go out of control and I couldn't breathe.  Well, I just had to rant and get it out of my system.  Thanks for listening.

(((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))))).  I had that very same test about 6 weeks ago and mine went very smoothly.  It did take an hour however I knew ahead of time it was to be external and internal. I am so sorry for your pain..........they did not have any trouble finding my ovaries.

It could have been your tech too as I had a wonderful lady and she was so gentle. So hugs for you and a dozen cyberspace roses.

Please be good to yourself now and I am sure they won't need to repeat it. 
By the way my test was negative so therefore we quit looking for source of abd pain and chalk it up to "nutso" woman. LOL

Thanks, Kitt.  Maybe the tech was new or not experienced enough.  I am going to tell my dr. about all the pain I had.  You were lucky to have a good one and I am glad you are OK. I'm already a bit nutso so hope I don't get anymore such problems.  Many thanks for the roses! you are so kind.

I am sorry that you went through such a horrible experience. They should have told you what was going to happen. That way you would have been ready for it. Again, I am so sorry that you had to go through all of that discomfort.

Got results of my ultrasound today. Dr. says I have a polyp and need surgery.  Outpatient though so it won't be so terrible.  And if they don't take it out it will get bigger and then I will have a lot of pain.  I don't relish going to the hospital but there is no choice.  I don't have to have general anesthesia just twilight sleep which is so much easier to come out of. Just hope it really works and I don't feel anything although I can't imagine anything worse than that ultrasound. Should be up and around after a week but still have to coordinate the Dr.'s schedule, mine and my sons who will take me.  They are such good support in these times.  Always easier when you wake up in recovery and have your family.  So i'm a little bummed but it could have been worse.

I want to say that I hope that everything goes well for you. And that you feel no pain or discomfort. Let us know when you are going to have the surgery.

Hi Aurora,

How are you sweetie, hope doing ok.  I am worried about you as I know how scared I let myself get over any surgical procedures.  After it is over I look back and think..............dah,  it is so me so why do I let it happen.  Because, Aurora, we are human.

Oh Aurora, what they did sounds awful. I'm glad you went through with it though. When they did the same thing with me and didn't warn me about an internal scan, I just refused. I think it's good manners too let you know at least what is going too happen, especially with something like an internal exam!

It's good that they know what it is now though, and that they can sort it. Hope the surgery is all over quickly!

Been there know how it feels. I am so sorry, its is very painful espeicailly if your already in pain to begin with. I dont know what your having surgery one, i may have missed that, but i hope it goes well, and you let us know how you feel so we can help you feel better....

Thanks everyone for your replies.  It really helps.  I don't have a surgery date yet because the dr.'s nurse it out of town till monday and she does the scheduling.  I'm hoping to get it done the last week of July.  And Kitt,you are so right - I am pretty scared.  I know it will be an easy enough procedure and I have a good dr. and she has done this many times.  You just can't help but worry.  Also, this is an unexpected expense and I don't know how much the costs will be between the hospital, dr. bill, anethesiologist, pathology, etc.  Even an out patient procedure can be really expensive.  And I have about $1600 left to pay on my deductible before the insurance really kicks in so I know I am going to have to pay all that as well as the first 20% up to  $1500. Don't you just get disgusted with health insurance companies?  And I have my own policy and the premiums are through the roof.  So lots of worries about surgery and how I will pay for it. I guess after all this is over I am really going to have to pursue gettiing a new job.  Had to leave the last one in March because it was too  physically exhausting for me and I could'nt stand the people and had the most miserable supervisor.  She disliked me so much she gave me a bad review even though I was really doing a pretty good job.  She wouldn't let me sit for one minute and had me doing so much heavy lifting.  I had no choice but to leave.  Well that's my story for now.  Will keep posting.
