Hi everyone,

I know that Kitt is going through an extremely hard time right now and by no means do I wish to make her life lose meaning as I post about my sister, Kitt and I have been through so much that it sometimes seems that the horrible things that  go on with life, our lives seem to run paralell.

As many of you know my life has been saddened by my sister and her brain cancer.  This has been over a 10 year struggle with her improvement, remission and spiral down again into devastating physical and mental decline.  In December, 2007 I was able to go on my very first cruise with my sister, at that time her mental and physical ability were that of a child but down deep inside you could see in her eyes that she knew what was going on.  The cruise was bittersweet as it was an attempt to spend possibly a final time enjoying a sisterly love like we did as chidren. 

 

Since that time my sister did improve miracleously and I actually had a phone conversation several months ago where she was my "old" Gina and as I talked with her, I thanked God for bringing her back to me.  I should tell those of you that are not familiar with me that my sister and I live in different states, Ohio and she in Florida so therefore being with her is not possible due to finances.  I guess when I spoke with her, I took for granted that things were ok and I have not taken the time to call her since to see how she is doing.

 

I received a phone call from my mom yesterday and she wanted me to know that she is no longer communicating and her physical ability is that of a newborn.  When I heard this, I cried an I am hating myself for taking for granted she was going to stay with us for awhile.  My mom stated that Tuesday when she sees her doc at Duke, a decision was made that he would arrange for discontnuing her chemo treatments that are actually aggravating her systems and destoying her body in a serious way permitting her to live out the rest of her days in hospice.

 

I am devasted and I am trying desperately to get to her this weekend while she is NC to see her doc at Duke University.

 

Please pray for us as I truly believe that this may be the last time I will get to see her, I cannot even tell you how much pain I feel and how hopeless I am feeling not being able to be with her.

 

There is a couple of pics that mean the world to me that I would love to share with my HW family, with the approval of our mods.

Hi Teresa,

I don't see any reason that you couldn't share your photos. So go for it.

I am so sorry to hear about your sister's slipping. I know that you are so fond of her and were hoping to talk to her again. I know that things happen for a reason, but sometimes I just can't see the reasoning in so many things. I just found out my sister might have lupus, but we wont know until she sees a kidney specialist. She is suppose to let me know first thing she hears something.

Just know that you and your sister are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Teresa,

There is absolutely nothing wrong (As far as I can remember) with putting the pics on a photo / file sharing website and posting the links in HW. Always remember though that this is a public forum and ANYONE has access to the link. Im not saying you shouldnt do it... I just want you to be sure about doing it first.

Oh my Sweet Teresa,

I am so sorry to hear your Sis is so ill.  I know you were so excited when you went on your cruise.  I am also praying you get to see her this week-end.  You have been so devoted to her and I know she knows that. Just because she can't talk to you please keep talking to her.  Tell her what you feel in your heart.  Count the many wonderful times you had together and hold those memories close in your heart.

This wonderful site has so many great members that there are more then enough prayers when we all put them together that we can cover every single person in need of prayers.

So know our prayers are being offered for you and for your Sister. Gentle hugs to you and know I am thinking of you.

Dear Teresa,  I am so sorry to hear what a difficult time you are going through.  You have been a wonderful and caring sister and I am sure your sister knows how much you love her.  I hope you will get to see her.  She will probably be able to sense your presence and it will be a comfort to sit with her and hold her hand.  I am thinking of you and will keep your sister, you and your family in my daily prayers.  God love you.

Unfortunately I didnt get to see my sister this weekend because of weather and finances.  Actually in the wake of this, I called my daughter to let her know what was going on because my sister and she were very close when she was groing up, everyone said that my sister was her mom because they resembled each other so much.  I wasnt going to tell her at all because of her pregnancy but I thought that was wrong and not being honest.  After I talked with my daughter, I was so disappointed to hear that a wedding was more important than her aunt.  I just didnt understand why she still was unable to put off seeing her aunt for a wedding.  That is all I want to say about that.

 

I have been doing ok and trying to get through this holiday, it has been a year since I took that "nap" that almost changed my life.  With all this unhappiness, it is rough to think that my life did get better since then.  I really dont know.

 

Aurora, you are in my prayers as well.  You have been a great friend and that I am sure of!!

Dear Teresa,  I am so sorry that you didn't get to visit your sister.  Hopefully you will be able to get there.  I wish your daughter would go see her but I think right now she has tunnel vision and is thinking about her wedding. No excuse, but I guess that is where her mind is right now.  I will continue to pray for your sister and you and wish for a favorable outcome.  You know you are so loved here and I wish I could do more for you but I do believe strongly in the power of prayer and that is why I pray for those in need.  Please remember to take good care of yourself too.  You need your strength right now.  Please be good to yourself and don't hesitate to vent if you need to.

Hi Teresa,

 

I too am sorry that you didn't get to see your sister this weekend.  I am thinking about calling mine as she too is going through a hard time.  She found out that she might have lupus.  But we wont know until she sees a kidney specialist.

 

This has become a very long weekend.  I am not into these holiday weekends.  And I see not a lot of others on the forum are.  We were suppose to have my nephew come up and visit, but he called this morning and said that he couldn't make the trip.  Oh well, hopefully I will see him yet before the snow flies. 

 

It is hot here, seems extra so since it has been a rather cool summer, which is okay, for I can't take the heat anyway.

I hope that you are still having a good weekend.  I read what you wrote about having an extra good day the other day.  For that I am very happy.

 

I hope that the weekend is good for both of you.  Nothing much going on here.  This is the first time that I have been bored in a long, long time.  Hopefully I will perk up.

Dear Teresa,

I too am so sorry you did not get to visit your sister and if I lived close to you I would have driven you............ wink I understand what you are saying about the "wedding".  My daughter had to spend 3 days at the state fair and my son had plans all wee-end so I was only with their father throughout the surgery and home coming.  My daughter did come over last evening and my son has not.

I do not understand the new generation I guess but have to accept it.  Do they not understand the word Cancer and operations and pain and support in person. Enough said, I am with you on that topic.

You have come so far and worked so hard.  I am very proud of you and remember never give up as you have us.............your HW family.
