Late as usual. 

I read a lot of self help books to help me with depression.  I was just wondering if any of you read them and what they are, or were.

You already know I read a lot of self help books, though some not so obvious ones. I am totally obsessed with the Buddhists way of thinking, which is implemented in many self help books. But now I also find comfort in reading the more traditional Buddhist books which aren't exactly written for the self help commonly known (though Buddhism is all about helping yourself ).

The book I would recommend is called "The Power of Now." It is a book about spirituality, maintaining good relationships, keeping an open mind, learning how to get beyond your unhapiness, learning compassion, releasing negativity in your life and many other helpful ideas. It is a very useful motivation book especially for people who are down on themselves or feeling depressed.  It is very uplifting.

Aurora, that sounds like a great book.

Karen,  we had to read the "cheese" book when I was in nursing management as the staff would fight change in routines, equipment, which department they had to work in.  I understood it well and it was like the  easy read ever but you came away known how to cope.
