I have just joined Healing well.  I have had depression since I was a teenager.  I'm now in my 30's.  I'm on cymbalta and xanax.  Most of the time I can't wait til I can come home and go to bed.  I have no energy, lots of muscle aches.  I have a toddler and a very demanding job.  I feel l ike I'm having a hard time coping with everything.  I need to change md's I think.  And possibly change meds. Any advice for a newcomer??

Welcome to HealingWell, I think you will find that you have come to a great site.  All of the members here are so kind and compassionate.  And full of wonderful advice.

Have you talked to your md about changing your meds?  Remember you hire them, they work for you.  So don't be afraid to let them know that you don't think the meds are working.  If they don't want to help you, then yes, it is time to look for another doctor. 

I can imagine working a full time job and raising a child is a lot.  I don't know how young mothers do it these days.  You are doing a wonderful job, you might need some you time to do something nice for yourself.  Think about it.  You do a lot.

I feel you. I have no energy either. I wish I knew the answer. I do know I was doing better last year when I was walking a lot -- treadmill and outisde -- and I had a LOT more energy. When I fell off the bandwagon again, my energy level plummeted. I remember how hard it was with a toddler and work and how you feel like you can't possibly squeeze in time to excercise, but I do believe (even if I can't or don't always take my own advice) that getting in even 5 minutes of concentrated cardio would help you. Even just walking in place fast in front of the TV or doing jumping jacks, maybe your toddler could try some too. If not, they would probably get a kick out of watching mommy do them. I know, I know, I hear you saying, "but I'm too tired." Try it once, it's that first time that's the hardest. Each time will give you more energy to do it the next time! I might even hit the treadmill after that little speech . . .

Hey Katelie, just wondering how you're doing today. I actually did do 21 minutes on the treadmill yesterday and agin tonight. It did perk me up more than I've been a long while and I have you to thank for that. How old is your toddler? I remember my daughter as a toddler and can remember my exhaustion quite well. They're like little wind-up toys that never seem to stop -- only louder :) or at least my little one was. You didn't mention a significant other? Are you married? Do you have help with your toddler in the evenings? Drop me a line. Thinking about you and sending you POSITIVE THOUGHTS!
