Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say that I got my meds increased (I'm on lamictal and strattera diagnosed bipolar but love this forum lol) and I started taking them yesterday....I was feeling really crappy, felt like my equalibrium was off and my stomach felt icky....I'm feeling a little better today and hoping it won't get as bad like yesterday....Because I didn't start feeling bad until late in the afternoon and it lasted all the way until I went to bed....I called the office and their saying it's normal and that it will pass....I'm not really feeling optimistic about feeling better mentally right now because of the way I've been feeling physically....I'm just going to ride this out and take it one day at a time....I finally got my self help books today so I'll be looking forward to reading them when my son takes a nap....My mom was here this past weekend and me and my SO got to go out.....It was nice....I'm glad that she got to spend time with my son and she brought her brand new puppy with her...He was a little joy! With all the little bumps in the road it's the best thing to do to take it day by day and try to have hope along the way....It's been a hell of a ride the last 4 weeks and I know how I want to be and I know that I want to get out and do more things etc etc....But I'm just going to focus to be in the moment and know that I'm doing something to get through this...

I'm glad you've got some things to look forward to. Hopefully you're side effects will level out before long. If not, can they maybe try you on Antivert (meclazine) or something to help with the dizziness/nausea until your body adjusts to the meds?

One thing that helps me some with those dizzy feelings is Vestibular Therapy. There are tons of examples on the internet or you can probably find a Balance Center or at a minimum a physical therapist who can work with you one-on-one. I started them b/c of a birth defect that caused cerebellar-based vertigo, but now I've found the exercises help with dizziness brought on by meds or skyscraper elevators or roller coasters or such -- just about anything except boats. Steer clear of furniture or breakables & you may want to check with your doctor (we're supposed to check with them for any exercise regime, right?) but it might be worth a shot.

Hi Wish,

I am glad that you are keeping a positive attitude. We will always have little bumps in the road. But taking our time, causes them not to be so rough. Living in the moment is such a good idea. It stops us from dwelling on the past and worrying about the future. Keep up the good work.

I love calling you hope as it reminds me we are all a work in progress and we can never lose our hope.

You are doing a great job and I know it is tough getting onto the meds but I Hope the transition smooths out for you quickly.

Thank yoiu all for being here for me....It means a lot to have the support....I actually had a good day and I was feeling better....No more vertigo or nasea....I ended up calling the office this morning and my Dr called me back....I was really impressed that she called....She put my mind at ease and she's pretty optimistic that if I'm feeling better today that it probably won't come back....I started reading one of my self help books, it's a work book so I did some of the activities....It was kinda cool because it gave me something positive to do and my mind working.....I just realized that you have to take it day by day because when you hit the bumps it seems like you will never get better....But I also do know that I can't be so hard on myself because I'm just getting started....I do have hope that someday I can be where I want to....I just know that it's going to take time and I'm at the point where I feel ok about that....No matter how long it takes...I wish you all well and can maybe take some of my positive words into consideration!! Hi Hope,

Everything you say makes perfect sense. I am glad that the side effects aren't coming back. That must be a relief to you too.

I am glad that the self help books are working too. I am also glad that you realize that things do take time and that you can accept that and take things one day at a time. It sure makes life much easier.

You will gradually get use to a different way of thinking and things will be much easier to deal with. You will realize that this is your life and that you have control. And it wont be stressful.
