SSRI/ Sexual side effects

Hi Everybody; How can you feel better if the meds mess up your sex life?

Is there any SSRI that does not do this? The maker's of Lexapro say only 12% have this side effect. On 10mg I had it in 3 days. Now they want me to take 20mg. Any help here?

Oh, I'm into my third week of Lexapro with no help sofar.

Welcome to healingwell. I am so glad that you have posted here.

Anti depressants take four to six weeks to start working, or to reach their full effect, so be patient. If you still have the sexual side effects, talk to your doctor about switching to something else. I had problems with paxil where that is concerned. So I switched. I now take effexor.

I hope that this helps in some small way anyway. Give it a chance, often the side effects go away with time.

Hey there,

This is a very common side effect of the SSRI and SSNI meds. You may want to look at the Trycylic antidepressants. I had no problem with Nortriptyline, a second-generation tricyclic antidepressant.

hi joecal. for once i have found an anti-dep that is not causing any sexual disinclination. this is pristiq. most anti-pyschotics gave me heaps of trouble in this area. to the point i forgot about sex altogether. all the best, jamie, male 37.
