Hey! I was just going to post about how things have been since I missed my shot. It's been about 2 weeks since I missed my shot, and I already feel better!

My doctor put me on low hormonal birth control right away, and I haven't had any spotting, and my moods are progressively getting better. I can honestly say that my head feels clear and my emotional are getting back to normal.

That being said I only had 4 shots, so my experience will no doubt be different then yours. But I would go on regular birth control to help the spotting and possibly help even out your hormones.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I see a lot of women get depression with the shot. I hope that they can read here before they do it. I guess we all have to do the homework. Doctors don't seem to want to tell people about the side effect of depression.

I was curious if a low dose BC pill would be good to start as soon as possible or if I should wait until I know the shot has been out of my system for awhile. It makes sense to start taking something to balance out the hormones though. Thank you for sharing! Hopefully I will be able to start a low dose pill and that will help me. :)

Hello my name is Diana and I really thanks god because I found this page! I had a really bad experience with Depo but I was feeling that probably I was wrong! But I now see that I am not the only one affected by Depo !! I want to share my story so that others. I started with Depo almost three years ago immediately I stop having my periods something that my doctor told me was completely normal so I trusted her. about 6 months of having my Depo I started feeling so tired but it was extremely to the point I almost fall sleep when driving at any hour even if it was in the middle of the day. I got to the point that I didn't want to do nothing but sleep. I went to see my doctor again and she took blood test and said that nothing was wrong I had a perfect health. Since she took blood test I trusted her and thought I had probably to much stress but I was not. Well I ignored that and try not to pay attention. I also started to loss hair a lot but I also didn't pay attention. Since hair was not a problem I used some hair products and it worked so I don't worried. Until now that I am facing depression and also so much anxiety up to the point of facing panic attacks. My nerve system was terrible, I really worried about it because right now in my personal life everything works great my husband and I have a wonderful relationship, I have two beautiful kids and I have a great family and good economic situation so I really was worried of why I was facing this health issues. I felt lost, I lost interest in everything up to the point of not going to work and many others things. I immediately look for side effects of Depo but I didn't found much but the main page where it said possible side effects and I saw depression and anxiety. I went or my doctor immediately but of course she said that no depression was psicological not physical and I try to explained her that my personal life was great at the moment and asked her if it can be related to Depo because I read online about side effects she immediately told me no that is psicological you should see a counselor and I will prescribe anxiolitics and antidepressant !!! I cried I felt so terrible I felt lost. It was like the end of me emotionally it was a really sad moment besides I felt terrible with the anxiety I was thinking in my children, my husband my house everything come to my mind it was terrible I also felt alone because I was hopping that it can be the Depo I had no other explanation to what I was going through. Doctor didn't pay me a lot of attention she limited herself to Gave me more medicine to cover the real issue she told me drink the antidepressant for three years and we will see how you feel !! Omg three years what!!! I felt worst. I buy the medicine but I refuse to take it something inside of me told me that I really ha nothing psicologically and had been doing workshoop for self steem for years and I thought how come I end up being depress! I decided to go and visit a natural doctor and he help me more than my doctor. Now my depression is slowly getting better I would said that this is the most terrible experience of my life something that I don't want anybody to go through! I am really hopping to get Better soon and be me again I feel like this is not the real me!!! The depo shot has given me a lot of symptoms and now that I stopped (1yr later) I am feeling more of a post-partum feeling (depression and rage). But I want to encourage others to understand the hormones that are involved as well as take a natural approach to rebalance them than adding more pharmaceuticals to the mix. ... I went to the doctor and decided to try a low dose birth control pill to help the withdrawal effects of the Depo shot. I ended up being put on Tri-Sprintec. There have been times my depression and anxiety seems to be getting better & then other times I just feel absolutely horrible. It's making it difficult to finish school & even stay motivated for anything. The night time seems to be the worst for me... I think when I'm alone at night that's when all the stress and anxiety starts to eat away at me & I don't feel right. I can't say whether this still has to do with the Depo shot or if it ever did, but I'm hoping to figure out something soon. I am continuing to take the BC pills & am going to try herbal supplements. I just hate feeling this way & still having to deal with menstrual cramps since that was the cause of me starting the Depo shot.

Hi. I have been on depo injection for years after having a baby on and off. The ffirst time I had it I was on it 2 years I suffered every sidw effect but didn't think much to it at the time. I came off it to have a baby it took me a year to get my period back. I finally fell pregnant. Then after I had the baby wnt back on it. Iv suffered every side effect worse than before I feel horrendous all the time. its nice to know im not the only one. I had my last one 5 weeks ago I won't be going back again but the only reason I have is because I feel like im having a complete meltdown feel so low if I don't have it.

Yes definitely i have alot of unwanted symptoms and feel very low. I see on your post it says fibromyalgia my mum suffers with this and I am showing signs to but its hard to know if its side affect off depo. Thank you x

I am a 19 year old girl and was wondering if anyone knows anything about the interactions between the Depo birth control shot, Adderall or clonozapam being linked to depression. I have been taking Adderall for about two years and Clonozapam (klonopin) for about a year and a half. Both meds have been prescribed to me. In April 2015 I got my very first Depo Provera shot. I didn't have any depression or problems at first. But a couple weeks later and ever since I have been getting bad headaches everyday. Besides the headaches recently I have become extremely depressed and sometimes a little bit suicidal almost, although I know deep down I would never actually harm myself. I am due to get another shot on the 2nd of July. I am mostly wondering is it just the shot wearing off inside my body causing most of the depression lately? Or is it something to do with the other medications I take daily? I forgot to mention I have been completely period free since getting this shot, which I have enjoyed. Any helpful responses would be much appreciated.
