Are they name brand meds? If so, check out
/www.pparx.org/. They list all the needs-based prescript
ion assistance programs available in your area, based on your income. You type in a minimum amount of information and it will let you know what you qualify for. Just to test it out, I put in my income (though I currently have insurance for a couple more weeks) and a few a/d meds -- Wellbutrin, Lexapro, Cymbalta. All of them came back with programs that covered those meds for at least 3 months for FREE.
If you've been on your current dose for 6-8 weeks and it's not helping enough, please do phone the psych hospital. If they can't just give you an increase in the script
, they should be able to hook you up with someone who will see you for little or no money. Most (but not all) psych hospitals have relapse-prevention programs. The funding for these programs comes from inpatient/outpatient bills and from private philanthropists. So don't worry about
asking for help even if you can't afford it right now. The alternative is for you go back in the hospital which they try to prevent.
If you have generics (which at $500 I find unlikely) join the pharmacy's drug program (Walgreen's, Walmart, CVS, etc.).
Hope that helps. :)
take care,
frances
