I just joined this site, to basically get an unbiased opinion on my behavior. I am 37 and have just been doing some ridiculous things with my life in the last couple of months. Spending sprees, dressing more provocatively, had a tattoo redone, just stupid behavior for me. Thought maybe I was having a midlife crisis, and maybe should seek some professional help. Or could it just be a faze or worried about getting older, the fact that I am single, have no children, take care of an elderly parent, etc... I could go on and on. I am usually pretty fairly content with my life, but something in my mind has changed, and I would appreciate some feedback on this before I snap. I do apologize for being vague, just new to this kind of help. Thanks to all who reply :)

Hi Ancoraimparo,

Are you worried about manic episodes? The spending sprees, the way that you are dressing? If so that would be something that you would want to talk to your doctor about. Also we have a bipolar forum that you might want to check out.

Is your spending causing you difficulties financially? Do you feel guilty for the way that you are dressing? Is it causing you any other problems?

There is nothing wrong with feeling good about the way that we look. But if you are worried about this leading to something dangerous or anything, please talk to somebody. If not your doctor, a counselor.

Hopefully others will come on with their opinions. I think we are barely touching the surface here, but like I say, I am concerned that if you are that concerned about this, you really should talk to a professional.

maybe this is your minds way of making pain? do you feel depressed? any new changes in your life, job, etc? since what you are feeling is unusual for you then i agree that a chat with your dr. is warranted. i wish you well. with compassion, jamie.

Many thanks to all who have replied to my request. I think I should explain a little more, about my situation, and maybe this will clarify my actions. I became involved with a guy 14 yrs younger than myself, and in turn someone that I work with. So, I am thinking that my actions are trying to be young again, or doing things that I would have 14 yrs ago, so to speak. I believe I may have some anxiety, since I see this person on a daily basis. The situation became more of a FWB type of situation, but I couldn't handle it. Too many emotions on my end, and now it is tearing me up inside. Could these actions just be a mid life type of thing, or really do I need professional couseling? I keep trying to keep it together professionally, when I want to scream my head off in all actuallity. I am sure if the person wasn't in my face all day long, I would be able to move on, but I am really struggling. Every thought is consumed, even outside of my job. I know better than to become invovled in this type of situation, and have been able to turn it down before. But this new, younger person had a different effect on me, and we had a weird connection, dispite the age difference. So I guess there were more feelings on my part, rather than just a "hook up". I hope this info helps with additional feedback. I am not depressed, just need guidance, and I am a very spititual person...wouldn't know it by my actions lately. I just feel lost I guess. Thank you to all who reply.

Maybe you aren't depressed, but some professional counseling would help to figure out how you actually are feeling.

It is hard for some women to have casual relationships without falling in love. Which ends up hurting us because of all the emotions involved. Though at one time I had a FWB and it actually saved my marriage. Please don't think badly of me. I was in a tough marriage and my husband was messing around. I needed something. I ended up not seeing the guy anymore after my husband died of lung cancer and eventually met somebody else who could give me the emotional support that I needed and remarried. And I would never think of cheating. Just felt I had to say that. I am very happy with this relationship as we are friends and husband and wife.

I really hope that you can sort this out. I do highly recommend some counseling for support and guidance.

Thank you Karen, for your kind words, and sharing the info of your own situation with me. I do believe there is a wonderful man out there somewhere for me, and I hope to find that emtional tie with that person. I am going to seek some supprt to help maybe talk things out, with a couselor. I feel like this situation is slowly killing me, and I am sure it is because of the working conditions. A very good freind of mine also suggested that I try online dating, to maybe help preoccupy my mind some. I may give it a try. And no, I certainly do not think badly of you at all for your situation. I appreciate your honesty. I may have to do a primal scream in my car on my commute home, just to realease some frustrations though. Thanks to all who have replied.
