depression has robbed me of everything

Hey vdogg, I think I might know a little about what you are talking about. I myself have recently come to a similar conclusion (I denied my unhappiness for many years) about depression and what it has done to my life. What is done in the past is done and can not be altered, all we can do is our best at moving forward. I'd say that being involved with a site like this is a good first step to directing your future progress, I know it is my starting point. I would also think that this place and these people, along with being able to give some direction on progressing into your adulthood, are also wonderfully supportive and willing to be there for you. I know how it is to feel robbed of adolesence and hopeless, even with what I am saying at the moment, I very often feel the exact same myself. At least know that you do not have to suffer alone, there is hope for your future...and that coming here might be just what you need to start those processes. Good luck and I hope you begin to feel better, even in some small way. God bless you and just know that He also is ALWAYS there for you, no matter how many times you may think you have wronged Him in the past or how many "bad" things you have done to others...that's the unbelievable part about His forgiveness and love...it has absolutely no limits, you have only to ask for it and accept the gift that has always been there, just waiting for you to see it.

Jamie is totally right. There is help out there. You just have to seak it out. Talk to your doctor, school counselor, local pastor, anybody. You may need medications, or just some counseling. Either would be a help. You don't want to spend the rest of your life depressed, and you don't have to. There are also many good self help books out there. One is called "The new mood therapy". It has helped many people. That might be a place to start.

I have lived with depression most of my life--since the age of 7 yrs, and I am in my late 50's... So, there is life after depression... If you can tap into the right therapy, meds, and support groups, etc., your struggle with the disease will be alot easier. Of course, there will be days when the depression will suck the life out of you, and that's the time when you reach out to others for comfort & understanding.. If there is noone in your inner circle of family & friends--then post here, for assuredly--you will find solace in knowing that you are not alone take care...
