16 and very depressed

Im 16 and very depressed.. You dont need to read the whole post but I think it is iportant to. When I was four, I was in a car accident that damaged the frontal lobe in my brain. I have mild problems with reading and writing. I have some severe problems with math. I also have social and emotional problems. Three years ago I got depressed. I went to counciling for about four months. But then about two months after I stopped counciling I got depressed again this time, I got meds and counciling. I am still getting counciling but it isnt helping any. I just want to talk to some people who understand what it is like to go through this.

Sweetheart, maybe you need to change counsellors, you need to have a connection with your counsellor and if you don't have it then it pretty much fails. So think about that.

I hope the sites Karen gave you will help also. Keep posting and let us know how you are going because we care about you and want to help you as much as we can.

Let your counselor know that it isn't helping and maybe they will try a different approach. You can't go on faking happiness forever.

Karen is right, you have to tell the counsellor that her approach isn't working. That is what they are there for to help you and if she's not helping then you have to speak up. Don't be frightened because I am sure she would want to know if she isn't hitting the mark. So next time you go before she starts just say to her that you don't feel like she is helping much and could she possibly try another way.
