Hi Sheila,
Welcome to the depression forum. I am not sure if you have posted here or not before, but I do remember you from the fibro forum. It seems we discussed posting here.
When you eat, it should be in the morning so that you have fuel for the rest of the day. If you eat in the evening, it is going to stick with you. Eating in the morning gives you fuel to burn as you burn the carbohydrates.
I gained weight because I can do less than before fibro. I use to walk miles a day. Now I can just go around the block. I try to do that a couple of times a day. It really helps and tightens up the stomach muscles. So you should walk as much as possible. And every little bit counts.
Actually we should eat four to six small meals a day. Carbs in the morning if you are going to have them and eat just fruits and vegies and some meat from then on.
Try building muscle. Do some toning exercises. Exercise burns calories and muscle burns fat. So doing light toning exercises really helps. And it doesn't have to be anything aerobic, unless you want it to.
I dance around the house, that helps me. When I do my house work, I put on music and dance. I know that it sounds silly, but it does help.
I went on a water pill for blood pressure and I have seemed to lose weight with that. It is a slow process, but it is working. You really want to lose it slow, about two pounds a week. The faster you lose it the faster it comes back. You have to make changes in lifestyle, as we get older, it is harder to lose. So making the life style changes helps keep it off.
Keep posting and know that we do care. I hope that you feel better. Learn to love yourself. You are a wonderful person, inside and out. Once you love yourself for who you are, the easier things get. You may not want to accept being over weight, but once you do, the process begins to a new you. Keep trying.
Hugs, Karen
