I have had and was diagnosed with severe depression for the past 10 years and applied for SSI. They sent me to one of their psychiatrists and she told me that I don't have depression that I have severe anxiety and she acted mad about
the doctors giving me depression meds all of these years. My question is If I applied for SSI for severe depression and their psychiatrist said that I have a different mental illness what happens? Will I have to go to more doctors to get the diagnoses of anxiety even though their doctor said that I have it? Will they automatically deny me because it is not depression? Thank you in advance for your answers

They will probably deny you no matter what. But keep appealing their decisions. It takes a couple of years of decisions before you get it. Their psychiatrist is trying to discourage you. And they will probably say that their psychiatrist said that you don't have depression, though I am not positive about
this. Just don't let it discourage you. Appeal it.
Hugs, Karen
