Xanax or Valium? Got an opinion --- I need help!

I'm new here. I suffer from PTSD, panic and anxiety and severe clinical depression. Enough for 1 person? I am on Cymbalta, Buspar and Valium and am just frozen on the couch all day. Don't feel like doing anything but escaping into the darn tv. I remember getting off of xanax a couple of years ago when I was feeling good but was afraid of what it was doing to my liver. My Dr. said ok and then after a horrible withdrawal, I was put on valium as soon as the panic and anxiety returned. does anyone know of a downside to going back to xanax? My new doctor is stringing me along. I will probably change him too! Besides, I need some real life opinions. Thanks>

the xanax or valium? both have there purpose, but the doc has prescribed either one for a reason. i would continue talking with your doc and ask the same question? the other thing that works well with medication is therapy, very well actually. have you considered this? sorry that your feeeling low my friend, therapy is really helping me, i feel it will you as well. welcome to the forum MOL.

Welcome to the forum. I take xanax because valium gives me a hangover and I am grouchy when it wears off. I like the xanax for anxiety. I have been on it for years. Have my bloodwork done yearly to check liver enzymes. I take a lot of norco too and it has tylenol in it.

Both are good meds. If you are uncomfortable with the valium, go back to xanax. I think it is less sedating.
