I have a similar relationship with my sister but different circumstances. We met for the first time in our 30's, we both have fibromyalgia. But we both have different beliefs. I am the one that always has to initiate contact. If she calls me on her own, I am shocked. But hers is that she is so concerned about herself and her health that she forgets about everybody else and their life's situations.
It sounds like you have a lot of ailments. And some of them are invisible, like the fibro and the myofacia pain syndrome. That is something that only we know about, because people can't see that we are in pain. I kind of feel your mom is right. You both live different lives. She is living hers and you yours. Have you ever told her how you feel? What did she say? Sometimes we have to get a different support system. Or be our own. We can't depend on others to do that for us. They don't know what we are going through. I, myself, don't necessarily like talking about my fibro or my depression. But I don't mind talking about somebody elses. I take medications to keep things under control. I am in pain, I have accepted that I am always going to have pain. I don't like it, but I don't let it control my life.
I hope that you and your sister can somehow build a relationship. I hope I can with mine one day. But until then, we do have to live our own lives.
Best wishes to you.
Hugs, Karen
