Growing up sucks sometimes and whoever said a person is grown up at 18,19 or even 21 needs to be shot, or at least given a good slap upside his dimwitted head.
Something that may help is to sit down and think about what you like and/or like to do and then look around to see if their are any existing clubs or groups that share that interest. If there are not then form your own group.
Let's say you are really into poetry, and there are not any open poetry reading and discussion groups at your school. Create yourself a special email account and print up some fliers saying that you are forming a poetry group and give out that new email address and say if you are interested to contact you by email. The why you are collecting responses look for a safe neutral area where you all can meet once a week. Talk to the people in your school's library or at the main office if you don't know a place to do this. Then once you find your place set up a date to meet.
Another idea would be to create a "Lost Souls" group for people who are feeling a little lost, out of place, homesick, etc.
Either way it would provide you and others as a way to meet and make new friendships.
