Hello, Worried Girl, I am proud of you for standing up for yourself and trying to offer valid reasons for why things happened the way they did in the morning.
In reality, Worried Girl, most corporations require their young, aspiring executives to take courses in leadership for personnel. And that's what it means: LEADER ship: to lead the way, to show how, and to do it in a way that people will follow and appreciate the guidance.
This woman has obviously had none of that and was moved ahead in her job because she was probably a hard worker who worked well independently. She isn't a "people" person. Do you know what I mean? There's no real interest in what anyone else is saying, sadly, so your fellow worker who asked you to bite your lip for 30 days may be on the right track. If she's gone after thirty days, you have saved yourself a real struggle.
If she isn't, and you know that you won't lower your standards to meet her demands (and I don't blame you at all), you might be happier keeping your eye out for another job.
Once in a while someone who wants leadership that badly but has no
qualifications for it slips through the net; but, in general, most people who are real leaders are interested in the people who work with them, not for them--and there is a huge difference.
There are other avenues for you to follow if she continues to remain on the job and you want to keep the job you have. There are the executives in charge who will be glad to listen to you and talk to her if necessary to let her know where her authority stops.
You're such a valuable member here with thoughts that are relevant to the situations of many working people. I hope this eases your mind a bit. It isn't
you, Worried Girl; it's her lack of training in leadership.
Take care.
