I've started Cymbalta (30mg) for a week and have moved to 60mg (this is the forth day). I take xanax for anxiety. Yesterday I had to take 2 xanax for anxiety and a few hours later drove home. I was soooo sleepy I had to slap myself not to fall asleep. Anyone else experiencing sleepiness with Cymbalta? I'm hoping the side effects will go away once I've been on it about a month. I was told to take the 60 mg in the am as it has some type of "pick me up" in it. Anybody experiencing this or can give me advice? Thanks a lot

Hi BANDIT46,

I have a feeling that the xanax made you sleepy. Though I have never taken cymbalta so I don't know for sure. Maybe a combination of the two with you taking an extra xanax. I take xanax too. I have had it make me sleepy before. I would suggest next time don't take the extra xanax before you have to drive somewhere.

There are a lot of people on here who take cymbalta. So you should get better advice than I can give. I do know though that it takes a couple of weeks for the side effects to go away. And six to eight weeks before it reaches it's full potential. So be patient with that.
