Expensive Prescriptions

I am temporarily not covered by insurance, and I just found out that one of my prescriptions will cost over $500 to get refilled. Even though I will get reimbursed for most of this, the dollar amount really scares me.

I just wanted to share this, so that I don't freak out about it on my own.

What is that site? Needymeds.com??? I think that is what it is. Also going through the manufacturer can sometimes get you a year of free meds. Depends who it is. I am glad that you will get that (or most of) money back. I hope that you can come up with the initial cost. Let us know how it goes. What is this med? My abilify is really expensive and so is my pristiq.

Hi Display:  A $500.00 prescription would certainly make me nervous and double-think too.  Even if you are getting reimbursed.

I don't have health insurance and I tried NeedyMeds.org.  Go visit their website.  It is perfectly legitimate.  On some of my prescriptions it has saved me up to 40%.  But you need to ask before you use it because (and I don't understand why) sometimes it could cost more.  So show your pharmacist the card and get a quote. 

But I definitely agree with Karen.  Feeling better is priceless.  And if you are going to be reimbursed try using the needy meds and get it filled.

Medication sticker shock.

Anytime I get scripts filled the retail price is part of the receipt along with how much the insurance covered and then the balance. It is just ridiculous what many medications cost, and even some of the generics are borderline outrageous.
