Anything About Everything - Chapter 5

Did you see the Stephen King movie "The Langoliers' ? It's SOooo close to the spelling of our name (just an 'O' in the middle, instead of an 'E').

Anyway...I wrote to King and asked him where he came up with the name. Even included a stamped self-addressed return envelope.
Never heard back. The movie wasn't that good, anyway.......

Good Sunday morning. Cool but expecting a warm up this afternoon.

Late last night I turned on the outside light... looking for one of my cats... and there were two raccoons! We've seen lots of animals, but this was a first, especially so close....only a few feet away, and larger than I expected. They sniffed around and finally left down the stairs.

Cat was here safe and sound this morning, thank goodness.

No plans for the day. What's everyone else doing?

Our childhood house was on the edge of the woods. Raccoons were very adept at getting in the garbage cans, taking off lids and tipping them over. My Dad got sofrustrated at the mess that he went to work (he was an exec in the paper business and designed and built the first raccoon proof trash can-lol. he was in the paper..he was my hero-lol.

Karen I know you are biting at the bit to get some energy again. i get the same way if I run out of pain meds, they give me energy to clean and run errands. Have not had the $ to fill my adderall, have not met deductible ($340) yet. And they can make me feel jittery sometimes...but it is better than lying in bed for a good part of the day. Have reaaly struggled in past week to do chores, usually Pat is very helpful but his RA is flaring. His hands and feet are bad, especially since he cannot take the RA meds due to high liver counts. He is going to try my PM doc since the rheumatologist won't rx pain meds...it's always something

So I am going to stop complaining now. Weather is the best-I love spring and fall when we can open the house and not run the darn ac or heat. We already have container tomato plants, soil here has high salinity, so everything is in containers...I cannot wait for summer veggies, fresh sweet corn and lovely ripe tomatoes. The melons here in the south are fantastic too! And of course, it is crawfish and shrimp season...large shrimp are $3/lb, with heads on, sooooo good.

Well, I don't know why I am rambling on so. Nice to have freinds to pass the time of day! I love my hubby and daughter but sometimes we all need to get away. *** Calgon, take me away**** LOL

Oh thanks sweetie-I can wait on the addies-all this dust and dog hair will still be there-lol!!

Managed to do some laundry, clean kitchen.Pat started cleaning our covered porch overlooking our bayou (called Four Dollar Bayou, connects to Umbrella Bayou). Our bayou is not that wide and very curvy and shaded (trees are coming back from Katrina, but we lost so many live oaks with the Spanish moss) with "fish camps" on stilts all along it. Fish camps can be anything from a rustic shack with very few comforts to million dollar homes with boat lifts etc. When you boat along our bayou, it leads into Bayou Lacroix which is very wide and grassy, full of lil pads and rivers of sawgrass. We throw out crab traps there and catfish lines in the big bayou. And if you head up the bayou, inland from the ocean it gets to be fresh water and sand bar beaches around every turn-good for swimming and camping-Katie grew up in a small flatboat on that bayou camping fishing swimming tubing and picnicking. It is rural and poor here but it is such a safe and lovelty place to raise a child.

I am rambling on again but I hope to do some writing online and get paid for it so I hope I can practice on y'all. I was an english/Spanish major and love to write but am very rusty.

My eldest son (who has moved back from Denver to the apartment in our business) forgot to change his clocks.  He came to work an hour late...and not sure even now he knows what time it is

Hey Karen! The birthday was nice... this week has had a lot of meaning to me and I'd like to share.

Last Monday, the day before my birthday, I had to get a new license since mine would expire on my birthday. The day that my ex quit talking to me, I was wearing a very nice outfit, had fixed my hair and put on makeup... I was ready to spend the day with her. Well, I haven't worn that outfit since then. Counselor says its part of the PTSD. Anyway, I made it a point to wear it that day! I wanted to look at my ID and remember that I can get through anything.

On Monday night, my friend Jessica came over and she gave me a very nice purple ring. She said it was time to give objects new meanings, in reference to the purple ring my ex gave me for graduation. I thought it was fabulous and her mind set seemed to be on the same as mine... making old things still as meaningful, just in ways that won't matter to ex.

I spent my birthday night at my friend's house in Woodworth. We ate cake and went to bed early and I was ok with that! This Saturday, I ran a 5k. I was determined not to let my anxiety get the best of me. You see, I was doing it alone. I didn't know anyone at the race, but I haven't run one since the break up and I just had to prove I could do it by myself. Well, I finished 3 minutes faster than my last race! That night, I had dinner with 6 friends to celebrate my birthday (since it was on a weeknight) and it was very nice.

I know this was a long post, but I needed to share! I have become friends with my neighbor across the way and he went through a bad breakup the same time I did. Sometimes, he will talk about it and so will I and I will always just listen to him. I am much farther along in the process of healing, but I also took great measures to be there. I think boys are different with depression. He has stated he is depressed and sad, but we really just act pretty normal. It is a good friendship for me, no pressure. And actually, I think I'm helping him without even knowing he was depressed. I've known him since November and just found out!

ok, I'll go now... but that, Karen, was how my birthday went. Ex should be gone soon. I don't care... haven't for a few weeks now. I would still like to hear though that she will reap what she sows. If I let my brain wander to remembering the pain, I still wonder how she could be so cruel. So, I just can't let my brain wander there. BUT, feel free to tell me how great I am and that she'll kick herself... teehee :) Giggling over here

I spilled my coffee AGAIN... I give up. No more java on the computer table EVER ....

What a mess, papers are soaked, and I am, too.
Time for a shower and laundry.

That must be an awesome sight Joyce. I am scared to death of geese. I got bit by a duck when I was a kid, always been afraid of ducks and geese. And yes, the lovely swan. I guess they can be mean too.

I am glad that they came back. I hope you get to enjoy the babies again this year.
