Hi everyone. I think I'm new to this forum, I say think cause my memory is not the greatest. I am on the Fibro forum sometimes. Anyway, I never thought I would one day be checking out a depression forum. ie the subject title.

I began my descent into depression when I moved away from my kids, their grown, but I miss them terribly, then came the Fibro, then neck pain from arthritis, then my husband was diagnosed with a rare cancer, and voila, here I am. I'm hoping to learn a thing or two from you all, and hopefully maybe I can will be able to offer someone a little encouragement as well.

I'm taking Viibryd, I think it is a new antidepressant, but I think it has helped a little bit. I have only been on it about 5 or 6 weeks. I will update on how it is working in awhile. I'm struggling with sadness, but I guess that is normal.

And welcome to the forum. I also moderate on fibromyalgia forum.

Having fibro is life changing. So I totally understand where you are coming from. I hope that the Viibryd works for you. You should really be noticing some differences soon. It takes a good six to eight weeks to reach full potential.

Keep us posted on how you are doing. And know that we all care about you and how you are feeling. Thanks for posting. I hope that you stick around.

Continue to seek help and suggestions here. Being that this is a new drug, not a lot of people have probably taken it. I take pristiq and that is pretty new. I take a mood stabilizer too. That has really helped me a lot. And makes the antidepressant work better.

Debbie, welcome to our little corner of HW.

It is most understandable why you are feeling depressed. You have been going through a lot of major life changing events in pretty short order. It is more than enough to throw anyone for a loop or two.

I am glad to hear that you are getting help. Be sure to be 100% honest with your doctors about how you are doing so they can make the best decisions regarding your treatments.

Thank you Karen and Jim for the warm welcome.   It looks like you both have quite a bit going on too. My heart goes out to you both, and I thank you both for being willing to put in the time and energy it takes to be a forum moderator.

 The fibro and arthritis in my neck and shoulder seem to be in a competition with one another for my attention!   The fibro wins at causing the most fatigue, and the arthritis wins first place for literally being a pain in the neck! Depression is another whole other ball game.. but I am thankful that the Lord answered my prayers and I am now getting help, it was a challenge because I do not have any medical insurance at this time.    The local mental health is charging according to my income, and my psychiatrist has given me alot of samples.  She also tried me on Seraquel, but it made me sleepy all day to the point I could not function.   So we'll see what happens with the Viibryd.
