Hi everyone.

Typing on my phone, so if it's bad, that's why. Just had my first bilateral ECT treatment. My mom has traveled across the country to help me, and I'm wondering what other people's experiences have been. My head hurts. They gave me major pain killers - do the headaches last very long? Just trying to get a feel for what other people had happen to them. I lost my job yesterday. They said they couldn't hold it for me any longer, so that's a blow. Not feeling too great about that.

Sorry, I digress. Bilateral ECT side effects?

Any stories would be greatly appreciated.

I am sorry about your job and your headache. I hope that you feel better soon. I am no help, as I have never had ect. I hope that somebody comes on to give you some advice. Just wanted to say hello.

I must confess my ignorance-I don't know if I had uni or bilateral ect. I had 18 outpatient ects with a crappy headache afterwards for an hour or two....never any pain killers. Just felt like I was moving thru caramel for awhile-lol...I had one delightful week of mania and then slid back down.

But I have read about so many who were saved by ect. Hang in there and let your doc know of bad headaches or other s/e. I PRAY it works for you.

I've had a lot of ECT and it's helped me quite a bit. The headaches got better for me and, except for memory loss, I didn't have side effects. That said, my last ECT treatment was in December and I'm still struggling with memory. Could be the ECT or something else, I dunno.

I hope it helps you. I had 14 sessions the last time I had it. I would do it again, if ncessary.

I had 14 treatments. I had a headache only the first time. However, my memory has not recovered and the blues are worse. I'm sorry you're in such a bad place.

6 TREATMENTS IN 04. SORE HEAD AND CONFUSION FOR AWHILE,
SHORT TERM MEMORY LOSS, OF WHICH CAME GOOD.

PS FORGOT TO MENTION THAT I DID COME GOOD.
IT TOOK AWHILE, BUT ALL IN ALL IT WAS A LIFE SAVER.
