I don't know a lot about it but I have had a very brief experience. I was sent on a group therapy course in the run up to having CBT and mediation was one of the things that was discussed. I have always been sceptical of those kind of things, just because I don't always feel I have complete control of my mind in the situations that require it. In fact, as the mediation began I felt my anxiety increasing. But listening to the instructions given and really focusing on the exercise did make my anxiety go away and afterwards I felt much better. I tried after to recreate the effect in other situations and it didn't work as well and the effects got less and less, so I think it would be something you really have to commit to.
