Hi all I just wanted to at least say something here on the depression board. I have been in pain since 2007 and have hidden my depression from most of my doctors friends, my wife's too smart for me to fool her there. So here we are on Christmas Eve, my wife had to work today and is working tomorrow taking over someone's shift for an extra 75 bucks.
So a little more than a week ago I was playing my mmo World of Warcraft and the door rang. Who could it be, it was a Pastor from the local church. He simply asked me if I knew where two children lived around me, I told him that i didnt know and he asked me if I went to church. I told him that I had given up on God, which was rather hard to do since he stated he was a pastor. Hey I have total respect u know.
So we talked for a few minutes and after I had told him I had given up, he asked me why. I told him that there was no food in the refrigerator, nor the pantry, and my wife had just gotten paid and had to pay rent. He told me that he would be back, I figured yeah whatever.
The strangest thing happened a few hours later. He rang the doorbell and had food in both of his arms, noticed I had my cane in my hand and asked if he could come in. I guess once he came in he noticed we didnt have a tree or noticed it the first time. I know he gave us over 150 dollars in groceries, a whole turkey, frozen food and canned. We had no food, just wanted to restate that.
That man made me cry so hard and he asked if he could sit and talk with me. We talked for over an hour and he invited me to come to church, I explained that my wife's work schedule was her only days off was mon and tue. Not a problem, he said, that they had a church van that wouldn't mind picking me up. My wife came home and she immediately saw the tree,
opened the fridge and came over to me and hugged. She said that there still was good people in this world, and one can never know how the smallest thing can turn something around.
My neighbor was spotted by my wife with lots of christmas presents and the thing is the landlord told us that she was 2 months behind. We will not have a christmas this year as far as presents, but our bills are paid. You see, I had to sign up for disability due to my back pain that I have endured for 5 years just keeps getting worse. I have tried changing careers, from ironworker to crane operator, and I can get a job, just not keep it. I am a nationally certified crane operator but the problem with that is I had to sue the company I hurt my back working for and that is such a red flag. Employers wont touch me 90 percent of the time and I am on narcotics for pain control which is a big no as a crane operator.
So, just when you think you have it rough, just think of me
