New to the depression forum (my depression is mild and directly related to my UC, which I blab about in that forum!), but I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for psychiatrists in Boston.
My partner has suffered from depression for a very long time, about 11 years, which is worsened by his OCD (and, in turn, worsens his OCD). He previously took fluvoxamine, which he stopped taking about 8 months ago. I'm not sure how long he was on it, but he was very insistent that he didn't want to stay on it. He's managed to pass pretty well, even around me (we live together), and I'm hesitant to ask him to go back on a medication he wasn't happy being on.
His depression has been getting worse lately. I've been sick for about a year, and getting too sick to work since late December. Not only has he been taking care of me, but the apartment has also been getting pretty grody, since I'm good at making it messy, but too sick to clean it up. Since we've also been trying to budget to save up for the future (wedding, house, kids), his depression has worsened, since he believes that we will always be paycheck to paycheck, and that our lives will only get worse as we take on more responsibilities, financial or otherwise.
Because of insurance problems and work issues, he has not seen a psychiatrist in a very long time (about 2 years). He has expressed a lot of anxiety over finding a doctor who can see him after work (since he can't miss work), and he's also been worried about finding time to call his doctor or even find a psychiatrist, since he can't make personal calls at work and rarely is able to take a lunch break (obviously, his job isn't making his depression easier!).
I would like to find some potential psychiatrists in Boston. If anyone has any recommendations, I'd really appreciate it! They would need to be very T-accessible, since we don't have a car, and they would have to take our insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield). Someone who has experience with patients with OCD would also be preferred.
Please PM me with suggestions! Thanks in advance ... I love this man to pieces, and it's time to get some help for him.
