I sympathize with people who hesitate to take medications...years ago pharmaceuticals helped my depression, but, following a concussion with severe headache pain I was put on a tricyclic antidepressant, and ADD medication, a second Rx...all with catastrophic results.
I have spent 2 years trying to get relief. I had pain issues to deal with first but I was fighting depression as well. Facts: pain causes depression not the other way around despite the pharmaceutical industries claims. Depression weakens your bodies natural defenses increases stress which effects immune system.
Here's what I found worked: take your brain for a walk! Every study has exercise as a component...FORCE YOURSELF! I found some relief with talk therapy but realized that it was an hour a week focusing on problems, if you are not suicidal meditate or do relaxation exercises ( great free apps available. While these all helped nothing was a "cure" but kept me from sinking into deep depression. My miracle came in the form of QEEG neurobiofeedback. Not only is my depression GONE, my energy is up and I wake up happy. I suggest you find a qualified professional as the DIY machines have mixed reviews.
The best thing about
this therapy .....zero side effects, no weight gain or loss, no increased chance of suicidal tendencies, no negative personality changes.
Of course, your doctor may not know much about
it but as I read in my my research...they are not required to put themselves out of business.
I hope more people will try it....20 sessions and I'm still symptom free after 5 months...no meds and I am living a healthy lifestyle.
Take charge and get better.
PS there are some people who need medications but instead of hit and miss, try this or try that a QEEG can determine the medications that will be most effective.
